Have you configured your router so that it points your public domain name ? That is, your public/global IP requests should be redirected to your NAS server on your local network.

SOURCE: My computer says Im connected network but cant get on internet

Same router I use. It sounds like you have an option in your router that is blocking you from accessing the internet. Possibly a bad DNS server or you have accidentally restricted your computer from accessing the internet via filters.

What I would do at this point is go through router, option by option and write down any custom settings you might have. After you have them all recorded, hard reset the router. This can be done by pressing the pin hole button on back of router for about 10 or so seconds. Doing this restores your router to factory specs.

After back to factory specs, try connecting to the internet before implementing any type of security. If it works then one by one enter in your old settings that you have written down from the above step. After each setting change, try connecting to the internet, when you get back to not being able to connect, you found your rouge setting.

More thoughts on this issue:
Try connecting directly to your modem via a wired connection. After you wire the connection, reboot your modem and try accessing the internet. If it doesn't work, then I would call your ISP to see if there is anything wrong with your internet (unpaid bill, area outage). If it does work, then rehook your modem to your router. You will need to first reboot your modem then router after modem syncs up.

The rebooting of devices is important. When your modem boots up, it leases an IP to the MAC Address of the connected device. If you have not "cloned" the MAC addy, then each device has a different MAC addy. The modem will not allow access to the internet if the device connected has a different MAC address than what it leased the IP to. I would actually try this method before a hard reset of router.

If your modem has battery backup, you will need to unplug the battery along with pulling the power wire to perform a reboot. The router can be rebooted just by pulling the power wire and plugging it back in.

Hope this helps, sorry for it not being in order, the reboots came to mind after I started writing.

SOURCE: No internet connection

if you are worried about the icons that are sown in the tray system ( lower right in the task bar ) those are showing the other connections that are not working at the time ...for example the LAN cable conection ...and the blue tooth ..those will appear not connected if you have no cable on the Lan card or blue tooth device connection ...even if you are connected via wireless those will appear unless you choose to unchecked the show in tray ...
if you are asking about the connection you have made wireless and it doesnt work ...you probably have a driver problem ..just reinstall the driver for the wireless card if you know that the connection should work ...if you have acces on the net wireless those icons that are x-ed on the right on the task bar are for the other connection methods ..so do not worry ..

Hi Joanne.

Your Virgin Home network I am guessing is wireless???

This may be a big problem.

The KP500 Cookie is not a WiFi enabled handset so connecting to ANY Wireless internet connection is NOT going to happen. Sorry!

When you search manually for a Network what you are actually doing is searching for another mobile phone network.

The mobile phone network is the only way the cookie can connect to the internet.

Error code 80072745

From the Microsoft web site at: http://messenger-support.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!8B3F39C76A8B853F!13931.entry?sa=240159924
December 11 Error: 80072745 If you are encountering the error code 80072745 when you sign into Messenger try the following: 1. If you are connected to the Internet through a router, remove the connection to the router. Then, directly attach the network or modem cable to the computer. This will help determine whether the issue is related to a firewall setting on the router. Try to sign in to Messenger after you connect to the Internet. If you can connect to Messenger after bypassing your router, the issue may be related to router settings. Try resetting your router (Note: This may revert your settings back to factory default settings and may delete all your custom settings.). Please contact your router manufacturer's Help documentation or customer support channels to determine how to reset your router or enable port 1863 through the router firewall. 2. If you are signing in from a corporate environment, contact the network administrator to determine whether port 1863 is being blocked inside the network.
3. If you have Zone Alarm with IM Security installed on the computer, turn off IM Security for Messenger: 3.a. Right-click the Zone Alarm icon in the notification area, and then open the Control Center.
3.b. Click IM Security or click Security to open the IM Security settings window.
3.c. Click the Main tab or the Status tab.
3.d. Slide the Protection Level slider to Off to turn off IM Security.
Note: This procedure will change the IM Security settings for any instant messaging programs that are installed on the computer.
3.e. Sign in to Messenger again to determine whether the issue is resolved.

4. If you are connecting to the Internet using a Wireless Data card through a mobile phone network, please contact your mobile internet provider to verify if you need to additional data plans that enable you to connect to the Messenger service.
