My pilot MP3 player is frozen.

Well, Whatever na ordinator is

But The player does not play MP4 files, merely Mpeg

my player stopped working all of a sudden...it doesn't restart at all...can some one help me how to fix the problem....

I'm not very knowledgeable about these things, but is there a way I can email you the files you need?

I don't believe they'll sell replacement screens, you'll probably just have to shell out for a new pilot. Your best bet is probably doing what I did: eBay. Got a gently used 8GB Pilot for $30 that had a 4GB SDHC card in it that the company selling the used player didn't even know was in it. I love free stuff. ;-)

Insignia mp3 players can use the generic mass storage driver in almost any computer. Windows ME includes a generic mass storage driver. When you plug in the USB cord, two extra drive letters will show up in Windows Explorer. Songs go into the Music folder. For neatness: Make new folder for each artist and under each artist, make a new folder for each album.
Also slight chance the USB mode got off of Automatic in the player's options. Please do advise if it won't work, I will show you where to get the generic mass storage driver for windows ME and 98 if for some reason it isn't installed on your machine.

Okay...here we go!

1) Back up all your files on the player.
2) Re-format the player in windows as either FAT16 or FAT32 (no this will not remove the OS firmware).
3) Place your files back onto the player.

The volatile memory on these units can become corrupted if your USB connection is underpowered, split too many times, or has a few devices also drawing power.

This should fix your problem.
