Bostitch electric stapler staples 2 staples at a time

Hi,

you might have a stapler jam. Please unplug your stapler and use a screw driver to clear out any staples in the stapling area. Then, you can pull out the stapler drawer and remove any jammed or stuck staplers.

If this fails, please call Bostitch at 1 (800) 556-6696 if you don't have a manual to use to attempt next troubleshooting steps. Thank you.

I hope I am correct in thinking you are asking about a Bostitch electric stapler (not stabler). The model number you provided indicates it is a desktop model.

By "not working" do you think it is jammed? If so . . . the video demonstrating how to clear a jam may prove helpful:

Make sure you have electricity through the electrical outlet into which you have your stapler plugged. Unplug the stapler and plug in another electrical device to verify if there is power. If there is no power, a fuse or circuit breaker may have tripped off.

Another thing to check: Is the stapler out of staples? If so, make sure you insert a full supply of staples in the stapler. See the instructions for the Bostitch Electric Desktop Stapler, model 02638 here:

If you look at the back of the stapler, there's a bright red button. Push this in and slightly lift up at the same time, then magazine is withdrawn. Feed a strip of staples in and replace the pusher unit.

Ungplug the stapler. In the area that you insert the paper, although its narrow, above where the paper is inserted you will see a metal straight/flat bar. Use a tool such as a letter opener and push the bar upwards. You should not have to push too hard. When you hear a click, you should be able to open the stapler. Remove the jammed staples. Plug in stapler and it should be work. (note: This is the how I fixed the Bostitch impulse stapler, but I was following instructions to fix another type of electric stapler and this worked)

B8 PowerCrown 1/4" Premium Staples (STCR21151/4)

B8 PowerCrown 3/8" Premium Staples (STCR21153/8)

Use the 1/4" staples for up to 20 sheets and the 3/8" for up to 45 sheets.
