I have a Singer Quantum 9960. When I use the thread cutter, it pulls the thread out of the needle and I have to re-thread it every time. Please advise? Thanks- Becky

There could be a few reasons why your Singer Quantum 9960 is not backstitching. Here are a few things you can check:
Stitch Length: Make sure that the stitch length is set to a longer length than zero. If the stitch length is set to zero, the machine will not backstitch.
Tension: Check the tension on your machine. If the tension is too tight, the machine may not be able to backstitch.
Needle Position: Make sure the needle is in the center position. If the needle is not in the center position, it may not be able to backstitch properly.
Thread: Check that the thread is properly threaded through the machine and that it is not tangled or caught on anything.
If none of these solutions work, you may need to take your machine to a repair technician to have it serviced.
try a new needle-- one for the fabric your sewing
make sure the top thread doesn't come off the thread take up lever
make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly
if the suggestions don't help
take the machine back and tell them what it's doing and ask for another one
try a new needle--the correct one for the fabric and thread
make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up lever
rethread the machine top and bobbin-- using every thread guide
make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case
if these suggestions don't help, then taking the machine to be checked would be a good idea.
When you pull the needle threader down it seems like it is pulled all the way down but it isn't. Pull it a little harder and it will turn and go down all the way to match up with the needle eye. I was a little scared to apply the extra "force", thinking I could break my new machine. Just be easy with it and it will work just like the manual says. Good luck....
