SOURCE: hobart N50

Some of the N50's were packed with a white grease. It tends to seperate. So the oil portion finds it's way out. It sounds like it is getting into the motor case, and is running down the inside of the column. Hobart now uses a brown clay based grease --- Darina 2.

If the amounts are small, and the mixer is not excessively noisy, I wouldn't be concerned. If you wanted to fix it, the transmission would need to be removed, cleaned, and repacked. For a Hobart tech, 3 hours labor, $45 grease, plus parts.

SOURCE: oil leaking from hobart d300 mixer

DEFINITELY contact the manufacturer (Hobart) on that one. Sounds like you're having some sort of an internal problem with it (something might be cracked), and in this situation, the best way to go is to contact the manufacturer rather than try to repair it yourself. If you're still under warranty, and you try to open the machine up to fix it yourself, you could wind up VOIDING the warranty, and if you're out of warranty, most repair places won't touch a machine that you've messed with already--too much of a liability.

Just give Hobart a call, and they should be able to help you (if you're in warranty, sometimes even for free!). Their phone number (according to their website, www.hobartcorp.com ) is 1-888-4HOBART (1-888-446-2278)

Good luck! :)

I just bought an old Hobart mixer for $75 .how old is it?

That's a bargain if it works. Apparently the date is hidden in the last three digits of the serial number, so February 1998 seems likely. The only sure way is to contact Hobart themselves. They have a great service department. I have used many Hobart mixers in my catering career.

I found this;

As the previous poster mentions, you can't decipher Hobart serial or ML numbers. I have about 30 pieces of Hobart equipment ranging from mixers to slicers to reach-ins to dishwashers and I couldn't make heads or tails of the numbers. Finally, I got hold of someone at Hobart who I emailed all the model numbers, serial numbers and ML numbers to and they emailed me back the month and year of manufacture. Even after I got the information, I still couldn't figure out where in the serial and ML numbers the manufacture dates were buried.

I want to know if the mortar mixer D 300 Hobart make a changefor the gear because my speed number one doesn't work

Of course there are spares for Hobart mixers. They have been supplying spares for these machines for many, many years. We have an A20 (which is slightly smaller) and this, although it is about 40 years old, it is still supported.

Need to adjust clutch on hobart 4346 meat grinder how do you do it?

On the 4346 mixer/grinder the clutch can't be adjusted. It is a Moorse clutch and will need to be replaced. If you ate handy buy the rebuild kit for the bottom end from Hobart. It's not cheap but once it's done it will last for years. Hope this helps, Food luck

Old hobart s-30 mixer oil

man you got an oldie but goodie mixer!im a hobart service tech for 8 years and have only seen about two dozen,unfortuantly parts for these units are exhuasted.as for the sight glass they do become cloudy over time and you cant determine the oil level.use a heavy gear case oil.the only way of telling is to drain the oil or if the unit is loud you should probably cange the oil.
