There's a couple of reasons why this won't work. One, the MicroSD card is only for storage of music and other data, while your ringtones are stored on the phone itself. Secondly, your phone does not use .mp3 formatted files for ringtones.
You'll need software and a data cable to create ringtones using .mp3s to convert the song (and slice it) to where it can be used as a ringtone, and the data cable will allow you to store it on the phone where it can be accessed as a ringtone.
Susteen (susteen.com) offers datapilot software that can do this, and there are others who will as well.

My nokia express 5310 is not playin any music.whenever i try to play music it commands like not enough memory.pliz help me out with this problem.

Welcome to FixYa!

To have more storage capacity for your phone, delete unimportant SMS in your INBOX, OUTBOX and SENT ITEMS. Delete also unimportant pictures, videos, music and ringtones. The phone memory is relatively small and is shared to all data and other files that are stored in the phone. By deleting some of these will free you some memory.

Alternatively, you can also put in a Micro SD memory card (Memory Card model depends to what your cell phone is compatible of, Micro SD is a sample) to your phone which will also increase its storage capacity. A Micro SD Card look something like the picture below.

Dear sirs. I hope you can help. I just got the droid HTC EVO. i somehow installed a music video that plays and displays whenever I get a phonecall with this terrible clip of some musician. I desperately...

here are two ways to setup a ringtone for incoming calls.
  1. From the Home screen tap Settings > Sound & display > Phone ringtone. Tap the ring tone you want to use on the list, and then tap OK.
  2. You can also use a music file as a ringtone. To set up a music file as your ringtone, please use the micro USB cable to connect the phone to a USB port on your computer. The Connect to PC dialog box displays and prompts you to choose Disk drive > Done. Your phone's SD card is mounted as a drive on your computer. You can now copy music files to the SD card.
After you have finished copying, open the notifications panel (by touching and then dragging the status bar down) on your device; then in the Notifications panel, touch Charge only.
Then tap All programs > Music > tap the music you want to set as a ringtone (the music will start playing) > press Menu > Set as ringtone. You can set the music file as a Phone ringtone or Contact ringtone or you can select Trim the ringtone.

I cant get my LG VX9200 to accept my WMP files

How are you loading them?

I have successfully used the Micro-SD card by removing it from the phone (Power the phone off first, please!), and inserting the micro-SD card into my PC card reader using an SD-Card adapater, which makes it appear as a Drive to my (WIndows) PC.

I then just copy music files into the "My Music" folder, and they show up when I put the card back into my phone.

I have also been successful using a USB cable, and then settting the phone to "Main Menu | Settings & Tools | Tools | USB Mass Storage" Then the phone looks like a disk on my computer, and again, I copy the files into the "My Music" folder on the micro-SD card while it's in the phone. Don't know if you can copy to internal phone memory in this method; I've never needed to try it.

A couple of things: I'm using ".m4a" files out of iTunes; I have also used ".mp3" files I've edited as ringtones, but I haven't tried ".wmp" files, so I don't know if it's a file format issue.

So are you successfully copying files to your phone and just not able to play them, or are you not able to even get them copied onto the phone?

Downloading to a zte c79

i JUST bought this phone, and got very frustrated trying to download music into the music player. Drag and drop your music files from your pc into your "my music" folder. They DO NOT show up right away, this is why i got pissed. I figured I was doing something wrong. I had the card in my phone, and my phone plugged into the usb port. They finally showed up on my phone after I took the card out and put it back in. As far as saving them for ringtones, I am pretty pissed that I can't do it. I am thinking Metro wants us to pay for them. That is such b&*%$#*!

Lg scoop

Simple solution, Alltel belives and enforces digital copyright management, while you can listen to your favorite tones and music, you will NOT be able to use them as ringtones, or use them with any of the features of the phone other then playing the tunes for entertainment. The only way to use files as ringtones is to purchase the files from alltel, or use their realtone jukebox, etc.

Sorry about the news , but welcome to ALLTEL!

Lg shine - downloading music from my laptop

If you want to put music files from your laptop onto your LG Shine, you can either use a LG USB cable or a Micro SD Card. The Micro SD card will probably need an additional adapter to have it big enough for your Laptop or PC slot. Once the music files are on the Micro SD card, insert the card into your LG Shine and go to My Stuff". Then, select "Audio and ringtones" and select the file on your memory card. Press the "Options" button and select the copy function and paste it into your phone.
