I have a Panasonic PT50LC14. I just replaced the lamp, and the TV worked great for a little while, but now the TV will turn off after a random time. Sometimes a few minutes, sometimes an hour or so.

I have been looking at ways to reset the Lamp Timer, but I do not have the original remote, I have the RCA RCR314WR remote. Any ideas on how to reset the lamp timer with this remote?

SOURCE: set lamp timer

Jerico, If you will go on dlp lamps .com I believe they answer that question in their FAQ. You can also give them a call. Look on their site for number. All I know is that they make the whole process really easy.

SOURCE: projection lamp timer reset

I need help resetting the lamp timer. Is there a way to reset the timer w/o the remote? We bought this tv as a floor model 4 yrs ago and they didn't have the actual remote that came with it, so they gave us another remote that works. We replaced the lamp but we keep getting the message that the lamp needs to be replaced and the timer reset. Plus the red lamp indicator is still on. We even used a friend's remote (he has the exact same tv) and it still will not reset the timer.

SOURCE: reset hour meter for replaced lamp

push and hold the PIP (same as play) button in the remote control
push and hold the menu button on the front panel of the tv.
Do both actions simultaneously. Of course you have to be close to the tv to do this: pointing with the remote at the sensor AND holding the menu button of the tv panel.
Do this for some seconds and the screen is going to tell you the timer was reset sucesfull and ask you to push exit in the remote control to finish

The others are almost right. You first hold down the minus button on your "TV", then at the same time hold down 0 on your remote. Make sure if you have a universal remote to swich it to TV.

SOURCE: How do we reset the lamp timer?

Try holding down VOL - on the TV panel and then hold SPLIT or PIP on the remote for 5 seconds. A message should appear saying it is reset. I hope this helps.

I have ordered a ty-la1000 lamp for my panasonic pt50lc14 tv. the manual gives no information as to how to rset the lamp timer. please advise

I noticed that the manual on the below website has more information and instructions than the one that came with the tv on how to replace the bulb and reset the lamp timer, etc. Easy to do but they told me two years ago I had to have it done by a technician which costed me $300.

The following is directly from the service manual for the PT50LC14

Lamp Time Reset Procedure: Be sure to reset the Lamp time to "0" after replacing the new Lamp.

1. Plug in the AC Cord, and turn on the power by pressing the POWER button.

2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button on the unit and the SPLIT key on the remote together for over 5 seconds in power on condition.

When the reset is finished, the display appears and the LAMP LED goes out

Panasonic PT50LC14 Power issue

We have a PT-50LC14. We replaced the lamp 6 months ago with a TY-LA1000 bulb we bought from a company online (not directly from Panasonic) and it worked for 6 months. Then the TV started turning off on it's own...sometimes it would not come back on for an hour or so. We called the lamp company and we luckily had 1 day left on our 6 month warranty!! They sent us a replacement bulb and the TV would never power on. It would try to power up, but the bulb would never ignite. The power light would flash and then the lamp light would flash every 5 seconds. I had a friend that has the same type of TV and she ordered her bulb directly from Panasonic. I borrowed her lamp and it powered right up. We then called the online company and they sent us yet another replacement bulb, and I tried it today and it works. It seems like these TVs are very particular about the type of bulb used. Next time, we will be ordering ours directly from Panasonic and just paying the extra $100. We have been without our big screen for 2 very long months! I had called a local tv repair shop, called Panasonic directly, and read through countless internet forums, and I thought we were going to have to replace the ballast or get a ballast repair kit and start messing with the circuit board.
