Check the speaker/s first. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

I can tell you what to check if you know how to use an ohmmeter. But I warn you you could get shocked if you do not know what you are doing. The transformer has 3 windings, two are for DC voltages, and the other is 3V AC.Your meter can measure those using the AC scale. Next, check the voltage on the 3 terminal regulator IC. One leg will have 18V, the output will have 10V. Again please use CAUTION! Finally, the to-92 transistor Q1 is used as a 5V regulator. Check it (with power off and unplugged) for any shorts, especially base-emitter. If non of these ideas work, I would offer to buy your non working unit if you decide to get rid of it.

phoned bose as i have similar prob, bose said remove the 9 volt batt under base leave for ten mins then plug into mains without bat and try again if this fails it needs to go to bose.

I repaired mine recently. Check transistor Q4 for an e-b short. The replacement costs less than $1.
