Lg tv, on the power input side of the led strips that whole SECTION went out. The power supply controls those/built in Tcon. Would the power supply cause this? The other side of the strips works.

The LED driver or the led strip has failed. Some LED drivers are on the main board, others on the power supply board. You can get parts from here: www.shopjimmy.com

SOURCE: 47" two yr old Visio

This is the second time I have seen this problem this week. Seems like a common issue on Vizio LCDs. Anyways the problem you mentioned indicates that the tv-micro IC has failed. THis is located on the main audo/video board and a component level repair is not possible in this case. The main A/V board has to be replaced and it should cost you around 100-125$. Would you like to do it yourself?

SOURCE: I have a olevia model 232-s12 tv has sound but no

Good day.

If you already replaced a new inverter board and T-con board and the problem is still there.Try to play the video on the DVD,if the video is OK check the cable connection and try to run auto scan.
If the problem is still there check the input supply of the system board or main board it should have 5vdc and 12vdc,if it is OK replace the system board.

Review this manual page 4-1 abnormal display http://www.scribd.com/doc/36875894/Olevia-232-S12-SM

I hope this solution will be helpful.Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: lg lcd can a bad tcon board kill all power

Yes , it can be a short on the board that will ask the SMPS unit to protect the power so as to switch off. So even with a multi-meter check you will be able to trace the short on the board, the drivers or any capacitor that is cutting off the power which must solve the issue.

Where is the LED driver on my LG 50LB5800 tv?

The LED power comes from the main power supply, it doesn't have a separate supply for the backlights on this model. I don't think this is the issue though if the colors are off, sounds lmore like a tcon or panel issue

The picture on my lg tv went out but there is sound. I did the flashlight test and I can see a picture even though the screen is dark.

When ONE led on the strip fails, the amount of current being sent through the strip changes. It can cause the unit to sense the change in current and shut down. You can replace all the strips or you can use a meter to check the diodes and see how many failed and then replace those individually or the whole strip they are in

Samsung UN65EH6000FXZA (Version YH02)

There is three possibilities:
1. Defective back lights LED strip.
2. Defective LED driver section integrated in the main power supply.
3. the main board.

How to check it:
1. You need a LED back lights tester to check the strips, or open the panel, use a 3.7 V DC power supply to test each LED diode separately.
2. Use a multi meter to test the out put DC voltage from the connector to the LED strip between the + & - for each section, (like 1+/1-, 2+/2- etc.) it should read 140 - 220 V DC. (need power up the TV).
3. Un-plug the cable between the main board & the power supply, power up the TV, if you get the back lights light up, the main board is bad.

I have an LG 47LN522-UB LED TV that stopped working after three years and need help diagnosing a problem with it.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

I have a Vizio E701i-A3 Edge lit LED TV. I looks like an 8 inch strip of the LED edge lights along the bottom are not working. Do I need to replace the light or the T-con?

Tcon is the board that sets the tone for the whole image. If you have a small section that appears to have no backlight then the tcon is not your likely point of failure.

You must also have backlight on signal from main board ,check for 3 to 5v on labeled connecter on power supply. UPDATE---47" & 50" LN series. This model has had LED problems if your TV acts as described by Mr. Hughes in is answer to this problem you have bad LEDs
