Code 25 for Toyota 3.0 3VZE

Hello. We have had our 4Runner for 10 years now. About 8 years ago we knew something was wrong. We took it to 3 different mechanics who spent over 3 straight days of diagnostic repairs & over $1200 to be told IT WAS IN OUR HEAD!!! We knew it was not & started to replace things trial & error. Everything we have replaced since has made a difference & improved the 4Runner, but never fixed it. We had poor acceleration, loss of power, chalk white NGK Plugs, extremely poor gas mileage (about 200 miles per tank when it started to only 136 miles per tank as of today) This has been a problem for 8 YEARS!!!! The check engine light never came on until last night. it threw code 25. We have replaced EVERYTHING it could possibly be except for Distributor & ECU. We replaced Cat, Throttle Position Sensor, Coolant Sensor, Mass Air flow sensor, Coil, NGK plugs religiously every 3k, new wires every 3k, Oil & filter every 3k, a used o2 sensor (this was only used part purchased). Yesterday it threw code 25. we replaced the MAF just this morning & Check engine light went out for 40 miles. Then it came back on, from what I gather & everything we have replaced, the o2 sensor has an open circuit & is throwing the code. We are going to be checking o2 value tomorrow & hopefully finally after 8 years fixing 4runner. Everything we have changed has made drastic improvements to her but we knew something was still wrong. If we replace O2 sensor tomorrow & it still is on my husband & I are CLUELESS!!! We will then go with the distributor & ECU or think possibly intake leak. We are both in agreement we think its running lean due to o2 sensor. In your case you may want to consider changing the TPS. It can be difficult to set. My husband set 2 days trying to set all 5 values, then I came & set all 5 values in about 20 minutes. TPS are tricky to set & many people never get all 5 values matched. I can tell you personally from research its best to get all values set so it ensures a steady normal idle once installed. The only thing is all the parts are pricey. To save you money you may want to over ride ECU & check the code its throwing yourself. Dealers are the biggest rip off artist you can find. Good luck to you. Hope we both fix this stupid code 25. God Bless.

Heads up! Know what each sensor does. It will narrow yor field of componants in suspect. You have mention everything but the intake air temp sensor and the coolant temp sensor. These two sensors actually enrich the fuel for cold running, both mechanical and operating envirinment.I could list the rest but you have covered them laready. So, good luck

My transmission has trouble making its way into reverse, especially when it is cold. Trying to troubleshoot. I have had the transmission rebuilt approx. 3 years ago.

Something to do is retighten the valve body bolts. 96 to 115 inch pounds(8 to 10 Foot pounds). Remove the pan to access the valve body. Messy job. I would pull they valve body and check for sticking valves. But if you don't get it back together right, your truck won't move at all. Over filled is not the problem. Have you had it serviced since the rebuild?

2006 Toyota 4Runner - real window, wiper and

Double check the fuses under the hood.
If there is no problems there, you have to open the hatch trim by popping off the clips. Look for the connectors enure they are non corroded or loose.

I have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp came on today. I took it to Auto Zone for a free diagnostic test and it came back as P0441...Definition: Evaporative emission control system...

The cause of this problem is a faulty gas cap. It is not making a proper seal. Change the cap & reset light with ob11 code reader. There may possibly be a leak elsewhere but this is usually the case. Good luck!

98 4 runner MAF problem. Was replaced 1 year ago with after market MAF. Check engine light would come on every 3 months. They would clean it and clear code. Now it only lasts 2 weeks. Took it to Toyota -...

Make sure that there are no leaks, on your duct hose..where the MAF is located..because if you are getting too much air..the MAF, will try to adjust to it, and it will throw your injectors out of wack, and then you will have a code...stating that you are running too rich, or lean, and then your plugs will foul out, because of too much gas, or not enough...and then it will trickle down to your O2 senors..it's a big chain reaction when it comes down to the MAF sensor...but check your Duct....

2005 Toyota 4Runner AC temp. control lights are not working.

I am going to guess that the peanut bulb in the knob is burned out.

I had a similar problem with my 2003 4Runner and changed the bulb and it worked fine.

The dealer told me it would take about 8 hours to change the 3 dollar bulb. I looked in my manual and it took me between 5 and 10 minutes tops.

I don't remember what the bulb number is. I do know that I had to get it from a Toyota dealer and not a regular auto parts store.

Hope this helps.

What weight oil should I use in my 1995 Toyota 4Runner V6? I live in a tropical climate year round, avg. temp 80-90, if that makes a difference.

The proper oil for your Toyota is API 'SG' or 'SH" 10 w 30. And yes, the climate does make a difference it the oil weight. If you drove it where the temp was 50degrees or lower, it would require 5 w 30.

Vsc/traction and check engine light (orange lights) click on after about 5-10 sec turning on the car

I have the same problem on my 2001 4Runner. I have been told and also researched that it has something to do with the fuel pressure and making sure the gas cap is on tight enough. The solution I have used...with minimal success...is to disconnect the battery which resets the VSC/traction/check engine light. Sometimes I can go two months without it coming back on and sometimes it comes back on in one day.

I wish Toyota would do a recall on this because it is more annoying that mechanically troublesome.
