My Rowenta Power Glide DE-08 iron has stopped working. Once, if I moved the cord around it worked. So I I took it apart and checked the wiring connection which seemed to be tight. I then plugged it in...

hi.

you will probably find that the cable is broken where it comes out of the iron.
this is not an unusual problem as the wire is being constantly bent and straightened here, and eventually breaks.

take the iron apart as you did before to check the connections, and cut of the last 4-5 inches of the cable and reconnect in exactly the same way it is now.
this should cure the problem.

hope this helps

My wife's sunbeam microglide iron does not get hot. What could it be the problem?. Mauricio. Thanks.

I just took apart a Sunbeam iron. This is how it disassembles:
first remove the screw at the base. Next remove the moisture dial top (it should just pop off). This allows the iron to slide apart - the metal base from the top. It should slide about an inch then lift off.

My iron didn't get hot, and what I found is the gear that attaches the temp setting to the electrical was missing a tooth. Perhaps you could set the gear to permanently "ON". In my case I found out with brute force how the iron is supposed to disassemble... time for a new iron...

My rowena precision steam iron steam does not work

Solution for me:
I just bought a Rowenta Precision for $5.95 at Goodwill. I brought it home and it didn't work
I read about the cords and weird size screwdriver needed. It sounds like a lot of work. So what I did was push the electrical cord into the iron. it didn't seem to move but must have. The iron works perfectly now. Such a deal!

My toastmaster steamxtreme iron was left overnight plugged into the electrical outlet. I thought it had an auto-shut-off? Now it won't heat up. Any suggestions?

unplug your iron, turn the dial to off.. then plug it in and turn the dial back on. this will reset the auto-off

Rowenta precision iron DM 561 will not heat up

Most irons for which you pay more than $10 (like this nice Rowenta) will have a replaceable heating element. The problem seems to be to try to find where you can get the heating element. My best bet would be for you to contact a Rowenta service center (see listing at http://tinyurl.com/danr9x). They should be able to tell you where you can get the heating element.

Before you go that route, I am assuming you already plugged the iron directly into the outlet in the wall (not in the surge strip)? Wouldn't be the first time a single outlet of a power strip goes bad.

Good Luck,
