Screen went totally black. Sound is ok but no picture

Is the TV totally dead now, no standby light?

is this happened either watching a tv channel or even watching dvd movies?. and then does the display only white screen or a totally black screen?.

It is the lamp that is getting faulty, that is why you are having the flickers and the black screen.

when it is completely bad, you will be experiencing a total black screen but the sound will still be functioning.

Have the lamp replaced and the television will be okay once again.

Hello, if the model number is correct it's not a projection tv, but an LCD tv. If that's correct, it sounds like a bad main board issue part # is AGF31218501...thanks

Sound like the sensor or recoding electronics are bad. The camera is most likely beyond economical repair and I would buy a new one.

There will be a problem with the backlights not being switched on, you would need to check if you are getting the supply voltage to the Inverter board (24V). If not check the power supply, if it is present then check if the backlights are functioning with a backlight tester, if these are ok check the capacitors on the inverter board. If the backlights are faulty then a replacement screen would be required.

I have a similar issue. Sometimes the entire screen goes black and sometimes only one-half - either the top or bottom half goes black. The only solution we have found is to gently tap the TV (usually the front side) and the picture will come back for awhile. It almost seems heat related as it only goes out after the first 10 minutes of use. There must be a fix to this.
