SOURCE: acer laptop power problem

Does not switch on from mains.?????????????
PLEASE EXPLAIN..........

Is the laptop lights not coming on when you plug it in? If not refer to the following.

Are you sure that your power plug has not broken loose. You will have to take the laptop apart to find this out. Sometimes the solder joint will come loose. Do not take this laptop apart unless you know what you are doing. The manual can give you step by step directions sometimes. It is not easy to take it apart without breaking the little things. If you do take it apart, take pictures of every step and take notes and even draw picture so you will know where everything goes. You can touch the plug where it is soldered and re-solder the plug. Please be careful. This takes someone with good solder skills to do.

SOURCE: My Acer Aspire 3680 will not power up.

Try leaving the battery out overnight. Sometimes it takes a while for the internal electronics to go 100% dead. Also, try holding down the power button for 10 seconds; that occasionally helps. Alas, it looks like you have a hardware failure, so the above may not work. Is your data backed up? If not, the drive is easy to remove and aspire 3680s are cheap on eBay.

SOURCE: Acer Aspire won't power on with fully charged 9 cell battery!

Acer Aspire One BIOS Recovery The AA1 has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, making it possible to flash the BIOS even if the system doesn't boot anymore. It's only meant for emergencies and may void your warranty, so use at your own risk.

Follow every step carefully!

First format an USB stick with FAT.

Download the latest BIOS, and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the stick. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD, that's important. Do not remove the USB stick.

Turn the AA1 off, make sure both battery and AC adapter are connected. Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the AA1 on. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, the power button will be blinking. Press the power button once. The AA1 will now initiate the BIOS flash, do not interrupt it under any circumstances. After a while the power button will stop blinking, and the AA1 will reboot shortly after. Wait patiently.

The BIOS has been flashed and all settings reset to default.

If for some reason you made a mistake during the procedure and it doesn't reboot by itself wait 5 minutes before turning it off, just to be safe that it isn't still flashing the BIOS.

Download WIN98BOOT.ZIP and HPUSBFORMATTER from the internet normal bootable like a diskette won't work with a usb stick
I had mine 2 months it's a common problem with the notebook.
The onely thing that you have to do is download these programs with someone with a internet connection.

Good luck

SOURCE: acer aspire battery won't charge

There is a battery cycle reset in BIOS. try that first. If not see if you still have manufacturer warranty to get a new battery.

SOURCE: Total battery power remaining: Unknown

Well you can try a system restore.

1.) start
2.) programs / accessories / system tools
3.) system restore

follow the on screen instructions too restore the computer to a few days before it started having problems.

Chances are that the battery is shot if system restore fails.

Acer Aspire 5738Z won't hold charge

Sorry. It seems that your battery is dead.
If your laptop is working fine on AC power only (with the battery disconnected), then your battery will need to be replaced.

The battery for the Acer p630 seems to be

That would indicate your battery is toast. You didn't say where you are so I can't give you any local links however you have a couple of ways to get a new battery.

One is going to www.acer.com going to support and calling the local acer support number. They will likely want you to send in the complete unit. The other option is to send it to a third party or do it yourself. It's not a big job or a hard one. You only need the right size of screw driver and a few minutes. Other than making sure you get any seals back in place it is a very simple job. Anyway to find the battery or a place to send it o just do a search on your favorite search engine ie google or bing for ACER P630 REPLACEMENT BATTERY and your country.

Then just find one that is close or cheap. Usually the battery or store will have some instructions but they are not usually needed.

As far as cost The battery should be in the $40-$60 range. Usually they are $15-$25 but the few prices I found were clsoer to $60.

I have a #M3-04 Navigation system. I bought it last December. I have been unable to get a satellite signal in the City of Chicago or in the outlying suburbs. The battery is fine. What can I do? Susan...

i never owned a nextar susan, but since no one else has helped you yet, ill give it a whirl since they are all basicly the same. charge the battery for a few hours. then turn it on, then press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, this is to make sure its completly turned off. now press and hold the power button until it starts, up to 15 seconds. after it reboots, take it outside in view of the clear and open sky and let it there for up to 30 minutes.

if that fails, go in to your system and enter your location manually then let it sit outside again to aquire the satellites.

hopefully this works, because there doesnt seem to be any updates for the M3-04

Reset the device when it is not functioning properly. If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it.
  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)
Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.
  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.
  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.

Selecting a Response to Commands from the Operation Panel
You can specify a response resulting from pressing the <Color Start> or <Black Start> button on the machine. Setting the response with MP Navigator allows you to scan documents easily.
Important:
With network connection, only MP Navigator can be launched. Configure the settings accordingly.
With USB connection, with Windows XP, the program selection dialog box will be displayed the first time you press the <Color Start> or <Black Start> button on the machine, as shown below. Select 'MP Navigator', select the 'Always use this program for this action' checkbox, and then click 'OK'. Honda 2005 Pilot - the updated navigation dvd doesn't work

When your NAVI system comes up, press ok and then the 1, 2 and 4 buttons from the top. Do this in order and hold each button until all three buttons are held down. After 5 seconds this will take you into a diagnostic mode. I'm not sure which menu it is (I think it is the ECU diagnostic), but there is a menu where you can force a download to your old dvd.

Soft reset: Use the stylus to lightly press and hold the RESET button on the bottom of your device.
Hard reset: Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and Right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device. You will be presented with a menu saying 'press R to reset, X to exit', if you press R Your device will be set back to factory default settings.
(The L/R soft keys are the "- -" keys just above the start and OK buttons)
Another Option if one of the SOFT KEY's is bad: START/SETTINGS/SYSTEM (tab)/CLEAR STORAGE.

Acer Aspire 3000 keyboard failing

The problem is the battery as mentioned before. Disabling "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Battery Method" should solve the problem of the keybord and the mouse, this is, because the driver dosen't work properly with a bad battery. I think it fires a lot of hard interruptions that are blocking the keybord and the mouse interruption to the system (each time a key is pressed an interruption is send to the processor... if the battery driver sends a lot of interruptions, the key interruptions don't have time to be processed in time - that explains the fact that the system responds to a key press is that bad)
