Water is clear by itself but when I add ice & the ice melts there is a cloudy film floating in the water

This is a physics issue due to the minerals that are present in your water. When the water is let into the ice maker, the minerals are dissolved in the solution, when the water freezes the molecules are brought closer together and the minerals are squeezed out. When the ice melts the minerals drop down to the bottom of the glass because they are cold and out of solution. The process is called precipitation of solids. The common mineral are lime, calcium, fluoride and many other organic substances. It wont hurt you it just looks bad.

ice maker may need cleaning, filter and/or scale collector changed. IF there is no water fiter you should add one.

Buy a gallon of white vinegar and rewash your dishes this time add 1/4 of a gallon of vinegar in the water with no soap just vinegar and water.... Also check and see if the dishwasher is completely draining you may have another problem that the dishwasher is not completely draining and you are washing with dirty water...... check the screen in the bottom of the dishwasher and the spray arm to see if they are clean and open...... I have used vinegar in my dishwasher and it has taken the cloudy film off... You may have to add it a couple of more times if you have a real bad build up......
I also use cascade complete dishwashing soap and has helped the problem with the cloudy film.
