You may have a bad capacitor. But you may nee a service tech to check it out. There is only so far you can go without knowledge of Air Conditioning. Ask for free estimate and you will know upfront what the cost is . RUS

My Goodman ARUF182416 does not stop running. I have disconnected the thermostat and the blower and heat element stay running until turning off via circuit breaker.

From what I can gather it seems like a power source error (red wires attached to the transformer) is allowing it to keep running. Another possibility is it could be your speed tap. These are my speculations about what is occurring.

Central heating&cooling

sounds like your compressor is getting hot and shutting down have you washed your outside condenser coil? Could be dirty causeing high head pressure and shuts your compressor down. Try washing your condenser coil I think this will help you. If not you may be low on charge of Freon.

Ac unit runs, inside blower shuts off after 2 mins, compressor continues to run, t-stat still calling for cool

My central AC unit decided to stop on the hottest day of the year. It would start and run normally for a few minutes and then the blower would shut off. After checking the breakers, thermostat and overflow shut off (did not have one) I saw something about a blower motor capacitor. This was easy to get to and replace and my last hope before waiting for someone to come fix it. The capacitor cost $4.04 with tax and had my AC working again. Needless to say I was beyond happy. I hope this can help others with a similar problem.

Hello, we had central air conditioner installed last October. We turned our unit on for the first time and the outside unit shuts down but the air handler continues to blow air and never shuts down. ...

Hello, if the blower motor runs continuously and does not shut off at tne thermostat then the relay on tne integrated control board is bad. Only option is to replace the control board

My furnace heats the house well, but during the cool down it actually blows cold air dropping the temperature causing the furnace to re-ignite. How do I adjust? Goodman - GMS9/GCS9

Depending on the age of the furnace you may be able to adjust the cool down. On some furnaces there is a silver box usually made by honeywell. This is your fan limit control. If you take the cover off you will see a dial with different temperature settings with 3 pins in a grove. The first one is fan on with temperature rise this turns the blower on when the furnace starts and warms up. The second is the fan off after furnace shuts down, this would be the one you want to adjust to a higher temperature to keep the blower from blowing cold air. The last pin is the high limit if the furnace gets to this temperature it will shut the furnace off but keep the blower running. Make sure that the thermostat fan option is set to auto and not on.

Compressor runs 45 seconds off for 2 minutes cycles like this no voltage change

In order to accurately determine and diagnose the problem, a more detailed description of the problem needs to be communicated as opposed to normal operation of the system so a repair person can determine that there is in fact a problem. There's a big difference between solving a problem via text as opposed to seeing what is wrong in the field. They rarely are the same.

Goodman condenser sequence of operation on a matched system. Call for cool, condenser starts, 15-30 seconds later blower motor starts, cool satisfied, condenser shuts down, 15-45 seconds later blower motor shuts down. House heats ups and a call for cool via the thermostat starts another cycle.

Based on normal operation it is impossible to determine whats wrong with the information given. There are perhaps 5 voltage measurements in the system that you could be referring to.

This is my first central heating and cooling unit the heat will come on and heat the house but the big fan inside the unit is not running like it did when we would run the ac is this normal

I assume you are reffering to the compressor outside not running. If so this is for A/C only. In fact once the cold is here to stay you should shut off the compressor "breaker" (located either outide next to unit or in fuse panel) and get a good quality cover for winter. This will keep the leaves and snow out of the unit. Just dont forget to take it off in the summer before you run the A/C or you will damage the system.

Blower starts ans stops

May be a short in the wiring or a bad control board.

Blower fan keeps shutting on/off,

Your blower fan turning on and off shows your thermostat is working. I am willing to bet you have the fan in the automatic condition. Check for a sticking contactor at the outside unit.
