Go to control panel on your computer, select printers, if your printer is still connected disconnect it and reconnect , it will reload, after it reloads, select it and name it if you like.

Turn off the printer first. Try unplugging the cable between your computer and your printer and re-plugging it back in. Then turn on your printer and hopefully it will allow you to add the printers operating software which is known as a print driver. Good luck !

I cancelled a document while it was printing and it is still in my queue days later as deleting and it wont let me print anything else or restart that print job.

The best way to delete the print job is to turn the printer off, then disconnect the cable from the printer to the computer. Turn the printer on with the cables off, and go to your computer and delete the document, Then once it's deleted, turn the printer off again, and then hook the cable back up. Then turn the printer back on. That should do it.

Good Luck

Only scans not print anything

did you download the software and/or drivers necessary for your printer on your computer before connecting the usb cable from the printer to the pc? You can get the software necessary to use your printer for free at hp's website www.hp.com.

If you have the software and its still not printing, try clearing documents out of your print queue. Click on the arrow next to the clock on your screen and find the picture of the printer. Right click with your mouse on the picture of the printer and open the print queue. Delete any unprinted items in this area and close the print queue. then try a test page.

My printer, HP 8500, has been trying to delete a document for hours with no apparent results. I am unable to print anything else although it does put a new document in queue. I do not get any error...

There are 2 simple methods to resolve any print job stuck in queue issue. However, both the methods will not fix printing issue if the HP Printer is in Error mode. Make sure your printer is able to print self test page to prove its functionality,

First method.

This Utility program resolve all the printing issue for HP Printers Only ( Network and USB connection )

This Utility will Resolve :

1. Check Connectivity between the Pc/laptop and HP Printer
2. Check if there any Documents stuck in Queue
3. Check if all the software/Drivers are correctly Installed
4. Check if the HP Printer icon is the default icon to print
5. Will Resolve Printer Spooler Issue and few more issue

Download the file on Desktop and Run the program ( Ex. File name = HPPDU.EXE )

Click Here to download the Utility and save on Desktop location
Run the HPPDU file and follow the instruction on screen to fix.

If this does not fix, try the 2nd Method given below ( this is manual process to clear the print job stuck in queue )

This works for all brands of printers ( HP, Canon, Epson, Brother etc )

Click Start > Programs > Accessories > then select Command prompt, then the black window will open and there type NET STOP SPOOLER and hit enter that will confirm service is stopped , after that on the black window type NET START SPOOLER and hit enter. Repeat this step 3-4 times and end the command with NET START SPOOLER and hit enter. Open the Printers folder and Refresh the Window ( Press F5 on the keyboard )

The service will be started and all print queue should already be remove.

// Above given solutions help in resolving print queue issue, however check the printer functionality if it is working fine ( the printer should be in working condition and should be able to print self test page, this utility cannot fix printer hardware issue //

Ron

I have a lexmark x3400 printer and a windows 7 operating system. The current print job won't cancel and won't delete and I can't print anything else. I can't uninstall the device as it says the printer...

You will need to clear the print queue first before trying to send another print job. - Browse to Start -> cmd... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service) - Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder - You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files. - Browse to Start -> type cmd... and type in "NET START SPOOLER" (this will restart the print spooler service) - Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.

Have you searched along the task bar for the printer icon? Right click on this and it should present a list of documents for printing. Highlight the one you want to get rid of and then use the options to delete. Next try using Task Manager to get rid of the task. Finally remove the printer from your hardware in the Control Panel and re-instal. Hope this helps.
