some plastic has broken or a clip interlock
you need to take the drawer out and examine it all carefully for broken bits
contact the local sharp agent and ask for detail
or even pass it too them for service

You are right - it's a great pretend play tool. You can buy a cash register and then some plastic pretend foods and set up a mini shop or restaurant at home. Not only is it great for their imagination but also good for learning to count money etc.

Sounds like you have printer failure. Have you tried flicking the lever under the drawer between the back two feet to open it?

As long as you are able to complete the sale normally (or use the no sale function), the problem is usually due to a locked cash drawer or something jamming the plastic insert inside the drawer.

Cb open stand for coin bank open. This is the yellow peice on the left side of the cash register numbers. This peice may be loose and just need to be snapped in.

According to the Learning Resources page for this product, when "CB OPEN" is displayed on the screen, this means that the door to the COIN BANK is not latched properly. Press down firmly on the latch to close the door. The unit will not respond when the door is open.
