Start valve closes when compressor can create enough volume to close it. Most likely your valves or gaskets are needing service /replacement. After proper pressure /volume is restored, start valve will close. Good luck

SOURCE: Mastercraft 2.0 hp air compressor will not build up over 25 psi

sounds like a bad or broken valves in the head. crankcase needs a vent which is sometimes a small hole drilled into the oil fill plug and will normally blow some air out the vent while it runs

SOURCE: The compressor relief valve keeps popping, compressor runs

What pressure is it popping off at? You might have to adjust the pressure switch to a lower setting.

SOURCE: craftsman compressor will not come up to pressure

Don"t worry, even the best techs overlook a thing or two during repairs. Lets go over some basics to determine where fault is located. You will need to do some simple tests. If there are leaks the compressor may not reach set pressure. I use soapy water on all connections and on the head/headvalve while compressor is running. Make repairs as necessary. If still low pressure, while compressor is running and has reached max obtainable pressure (still low 70 - 80 lbs), carefully place finger over intake port hole (remove filter). If the compressor is pumping normally but leaking there will be ample suction at intake and cause the compressor to speed-up when intake is obstructed with finger. If you feel plenty of suction and no visible (soapy water) leaks, then the problem is probably the cylinder /ring is not correctly seating and air is leaking past cylinder. Make sure that the cylinder /piston ring is properly alighed and that the lip on the vinyl ring is up toward the head. If you do not feel suction but rather air seeming blowing out of the intake, then the problem is the headvalve plate/reed valves are leaking. The reeds must seal perfectly on their seats and not bent or have obstruction. Replace as necessary. Only one other thing to check and that is the intank check valve. Easy to check. Run compressor till you have about 70 lbs in the tank then unplug compressor. Carefully loosen the inlet hose at checkvalve and listen for air leaking out of tank. If leaking replace checkvalve. Use caution when removing head to try and save the gaskets. Good luck on your repair and email if you have other question.

SOURCE: Dewalt 4 gal air compressor will not build pressure in take.

The bleed valve is an unloader of sorts that allows the compressor to start with-out a load. It closes when the pressure in the airline reaches about 20-25lbs with good volume. If air volume is not sufficient, the valve will not close. To solve the problem lets do a few tests. A long cord will reduce power and reduce air volume. Try powering the compressor with-out extension cord. If bleed valve closes when you do not use a cord, the compressor is not getting enough voltage, use shorter cord of the 12 gauge quality and more hose to reach work. If valve still does not close, check for air leaks on all fittings including around pressure switch and drain valve with soapy water. Repair as necessary and retest. If no leaks were found, temporarily plug bleed valve port with screw/bolt and run compressor till set pressure cut-off while counting minuites/seconds. The compressor should fill and shut off within three minutes or so. If it takes an unusually long time to fill, then the reed valves /valve plate is worn and leaking pressure back into cylinger. Leaking valves will usually result in very hot discharge airline/air. Reinstall the bleed valve after test. Parts and partslist are available at www.toolpartsdirect.com . Good luck on the repair and email if you have other questions.

Bostitch CAP2000P-OF 6 gallon compressor

This is an easy fix.. you need an new safety valve or a new switch.

If the safety valve releases pressure before the max pressure replace it.
the switch has a cut in pressure of 120 psi (this means compressor will start when pressure falls to 120 psi.
The cut off pressure is 150 psi. This means the unit will shut off at 150 psi.
You need to watch supply pressure to see if it exceeds 150 psi. If it does replace switch.

I have a Mikita MAC2400 air compressor that recently stopped working correctly--it cannot build pressure over 40psi and the motor continues to run non-stop.

This could possibly be, you have some water from condensation buildup inside the tank, liquid does not compress. Before this next step make sure the tank is to 0 psi! Now, there should be a relief valve Wingnut on the bottom. Loosen the wing nut and drain as needed. Then retighten the wingnut (Do not overtighten). Plug the compressor in and try it. My second suggestion is, the psi adjustment pressure knob could be faulty replace as needed!

My 5 year old compressor runs continuously and only reaches 40 psi

The pressure hose is not leaking on the connections between tank and cilinder the pressure unloader underside on the pressure switch with little blue or black little hose is closed (not blowing air out ) if the compressor is running? and is the check valve on the tank not dirty inside ?? if the pressure unloader or connections are definitely not leaking.
A little piece shard of the membrane plate(s) thats insite the head of the pressure cilinder is broken and is inserted in the black rubber of the check valve .
More possibilitys the pressure switch itself. the insite diaphragm membran has a problem replace always the whole pressure switch if its defekt.

you may have a Regulator on Air-Compressor Mount on the Gauge or next to it this allow you to set a pressures from 0 - 200 psi this to helps you maintain steady and reliable operation of your air tools.

Compressor runs until overload release valve opens (pressure at 130 psi) and then air escapes until pressure lowers to 100 psi..Then motor begins to restart, but will not , due to 100 psi and kicks breaker...

There is a check valve between the compressor and tank, and there is also an 'unloader valve' which blows the pressure off the compressor so that it starts under little load. I think your check valve is stuck open and the unloader valve is blowing tank pressure off.. and when the compressor tries to start it's starting against the pressure in the tank.

So check/replace/thaw the check valve and you'll be good to go. It's generally at the tank where the line from the compressor head goes into the tank, it'll be between the two somewhere.

MY COMPESSOR GAGE SHOWS 135 PSI AND 135 ON THE OUT PUT GAGE BUT I CAN,T INFLATE MY MOTORHOME TIRES TO THE REQUIRED 110#.DO I NEED A LARGER COMPRESSOR?I CAN,T FIND ANY LEAKS.

It is possible that the compressor psi as it is running drops below the tire psi creating a standoff. You must maintain air compressor psi over 110 to fill a tire to 110psi. Add air to your tire but stop when the compressor motor starts to run. When the motor stops then continue to add air until the compressor motor starts and again stop airing up the tire. Repeat as needed.

Can not build working pressure pressure......

The most likely problem is a burned out "run capacitor" on the motor. If you continue to try to run your compressor in this condition it will burn out the "starting capacitor" and/or motor as well.
It's also possible that you have a bad start up pressure relief valve, this valve will be between the compressor and the tank. If this valve is working properly you should hear a hiss of air as the compressor motor shuts off.
A reasonable motor repair shop should be able to replace the run capacitor for $20-$50 plus inflation, depending on your area.
If you need to test the start up pressure relief valve, you need to take it loose at the compressor or tank. Just loosening the line may not work depending on the style used. Note: sometimes just taking this loose to test it causes you to have to replace the valve.

Craftsman 30 Gal. 150 PSI Not building air over 45lbs

The compressor valve may have a faulty gasket or seal, and maybe leaking air internally. Or the compressor might be going downhill. You can try to replace the valve seal and see if that makes a difference, otherwise you need to replace the compressor.
