I unintentionally ended up with a different look to my mail page now, trying to make a comment on a story, and it appears that I'm into a blog or some such, since I keep getting asked what I'm doing now, have an avatar with personal stats, and people are asking to be connected. I want out of that. How do I get back to the simple Yahoo Mail home page?

You mouse is defective. If using a separate mouse (not the built-in laptop mouse), try changing the batteries and cleaning around the mouse light or ball. Also, try a different mouse. Check to make sure you have not unintentionally changed the mouse control settings.
The manual has illustration next to each step, and also shows 2 different examples. The illustrations are much clearer than can be explained with words in a fixya answer.

When you log in to the new Yahoo Mail, you should see the top contacts menu under the folders - it is located on the lower left side of the page. If you click the top contacts menu, it should show some of the people whose on your contact list, right under the last person, you should see a *show online contacts* menu - press that and it will show you who's currently online. Just click the name if you want to chat with somebody. You can now chat instantly without having to open another page. If you want to change the settings of your messenger. You may change it through the *option* menu which is located on the left uppermost part of the page, then choose *messenger options*. Choose the settings you want, then hit save.
You can leave comments when you see your contacts' update. To do that, just click the *updates* tab to see their activities. The *updates* tab is right under the Yahoo Mail logo. Right under the activity of each person, you should see a *comment and like* tab. Press the *comment* tab, then type in your message then press the yellow button that has comment written on it.
There are many occasions for which browsers (That is, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc) will have built in blockers which appear up near the toolbar and are intended to block a user from unintentionally downloading something. What to do about that, if you are able to locate it, is right click on that tool bar that is popping up and allow (which is normally one of the choices they give) the opening of that page.
Most of the time, the internet browser is the problem when a page won't load up. If you're accessing your Yahoo! Mail everyday, there will come a time that your browser will be filled out with cookies and cache.
However, you must try to isolate first, to make sure that the problem is the browser and not the Yahoo! Mail sign in page. Here are the things that you may try:
1. Try to use different internet browser and access your Yahoo! Mail. If the sign in page loads up, then it's the browser.
2. Try to access the Yahoo! Mail in a different computer that is connected to a different network.
If the problem is only happening in one browser, then it's the browser. You may try to clear the cookies and cache. Here's how:
* For Internet Explorer - Open your IE > Tools > Internet Options - Click the "Delete" button under the browsing history. - Select cookies, internet files, etc. - Select "Delete All". - Close and re-open your IE. - Try to access your Yahoo! Mail.
* For Mozilla Firefox - Open Firefox > Tools > Clear Recent History. - Select cookies, cache, browsing and download, etc. - Click on "Clear Now" - Close and re-open your Firefox - Try to access your Yahoo! Mail.
ew Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta, and we’ll open up our Beta to their Beta towards the end of this month. Folks on the bleeding edge, please sit tight!
So, It appears we have to un-install these two things or try to work around them. http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/mail/c… For those who can't get in at all try this as it seems to be working for a few. http://myyahoo.com Login on My Yahoo! page Select the link at top right to go to Yahoo!'s Home Page. Mouse over the Mail Icon under where it says (Hi, your Yahoo! id). You should get a drop down menu with your latest emails displayed. Select an email and click it. You then get to a new page about Shortcuts, but just select the button for Mail and it should take you to your Mail page. It wasn't getting redirected to the shortcuts page on some servers and not going to the mail page.
This is also working for some: Click the "Options" link in the upper right of your Mail page. On the Options page, in the "Management" column, click on "General Preferences". Find the "Composing E-mails" section, "Mode:", and choose "Compose messages as plain text". Scroll to the bottom and click the "Save" button. Now try it. Can you Compose, Reply to a message or Forward?
This is working for some also:
Make sure your screen resolution is 1024 by 768 pixels. Right click on your desktop, click Properties, click the "Settings" tab, left click and hold on the screen resolution bar and drag it all the way to the right, click Apply and click OK.
