I just installed the Bose Companion 5 on my HP laptop. The USB installation was successful. I selected 5.1 Surround Sound under the Sound Devices in Control Panel. However, no sound comes from the satellite speakers...Only low frequency sounds come from the sub-woofer. Any suggestions?

This soundsystem us USB based and you'll need to re install the drivers from Bose. If you
can't find proper drivers. you could patch into this soundsystem by taking sound from your soundcard vial line out and plugging it into the aux in on the systems volume control. Also since this system is USB it uses its own sound device. check under control panel --- sound to make sure the computer is using the correct device. Also check your volume control to make sure that the
system is active and not muted.
you might have to uninstall then reinstall either the driver or the sound devices control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make the necessary adjustmentsthere or control panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager, sound, could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers or right click select properties to either troubleshoot, uninstall, rollback driver hope this helps
email support@bose.com or contact a Bose Support Specialist in Germany; or call US support at 1-800-367-4008. Something very odd is happening here. You are using the same laptop, correct? If not, let me know, as there are some things to try. If Bose has a solution, I'd love to hear it.
