Is there power to that wall outlet? Plug something else into it (lamp, radio) to make sure it has power. I had a similar problem where something I had plugged into the outlet was for some reason not working. I plugged in something else and it also did not work; found out the breaker switch for that outlet had tripped.

My sons flat screen Emerson LC320EM2 model tv wont turn on for some reason. The red light flashes twice and thats it. It wont do anything else. It is several years old but has worked fine until today

"The red light flashes twice and that's it" suggests the main control board has failed.

If that's the case, your options depend on price. How much will a local maintenance organisation charge you for a fix, against how much will it cost you to buy another somewhere like e-Bay?

Emerson lf501em4f wont always turn on

Sounds like you have a faulty power circuit one of the most common faults with most TV's with a standby mode you would probably need to get an engineer to replace the circuit board us if you try to change it yourself some of them are affected by static discharge or the salts in body sweat so you should use latex gloves to avoid corruption of the circuit board on installation I hope this helps

My emerson tv standby light is on the power light flashes twice

Mine stayed in stanby mode and all I had to do was to switch the plug to a different outlet. The power strip it was on wasn't providing enough power. It worked fine for a month before I had a problem.
