Ice bin on my Whirlpool GS5VHAXWY Refrigerator will not reseat, everything else working fine.

Got rid of all the ice that might be blocking. Carefully aligned auger and plastic parts over each other, and pushed down. Would not seat completely flush. Ice is still made and enters the dispenser bin.

If it's the same as my Hotpoint. This part is not meant to sit flush, or it would freeze and become stuck. It would need to have the gap to operate correctly.

SOURCE: Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator ice dispenser

First pull out the ice bucket and close the door.  Set for cubed ice.  Press the button for ice to come out and listen for a loud clunk noise.  That is the sound of the solenoid.  You can open the door, hold the light switch and press the button and watch for the solenoid moving up and down.  Solenoid is at the back of the freezer in a little square opening where the rod on the ice bucket goes into.  If that solenoid is moving ok then put the bucket back in while the solenoid is in the down position and cubes should work.  If solenoid is not working then it will need to be replaced.  Let me know what you find.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Gold Ice dispenser problem

i had same exact problem, i search over and over for solution. I even change the auger moter.

here is the solution for this particular problem.....

with the fridge door closed, remove bottom catch tray under ice dispenser revealing two screws, take off screws and slide front trim up to remove, you will have to unplug switch on trim to fully remove, look in top right corner there is black switch the will most likely be loose, this switch is your problem, mine was basically dislodged and the ice dispenser lever was not making contact, i simply zipped tied and siliconed the switch back to its respective place. if yours is making a good connection then the switch its self must be bad, you can test the switch by using the switch from water dispenser side...

i hope this helps

SOURCE: Fridge won't dispense ice through door.

First take the hopper out and let it de-ice completely making sure that it is dry before re-installing it. Make sure that the auger moves when re installed with no ice in it.

SOURCE: KitchenAid Superba ice maker not dispensing ice

this is not a solution, but an explanation- our repair man said that there is a line (tube) containing electric wires that passes from the frig to the door at the bottom of the door, near the hinge. for what ever reason, the line has broken, thus keeping the electric from getting to the motor that dispense ice and water- solution= $700 for a new door; we'll do without

I have a Whirlpool refrig./freezer. I have no problem with the ice dropping in the bucket, but when I try to dispense it under the chute,it wil not dispense. The water works fine. This is a side side ...

Sometimes the ice will collect, melt, and freeze into a giant headache. If you have the one where you can get ice out of the holding bin inside the freezer, see if the ice bin will come apart from the rest of the dispenser. If it doesn't come easily, get as much ice out of the bin, get a wet vac ready and pour warm water on the ice. It will run through the dispenser. Once things come apart easily, you can take it over to sink and get rid of the ice blockage with warm water, let it dry, reinstall, and check to see if it works. Hope this helps.

Whirlpool refrigerator #ER2CHMXPL02 I think I have two separate problems. 1st one is a water leak that fills the bottom bins daily! The freezer does not seem to be defrosting, everything in there looks...

Could be that the freezer is too full with foodstuff and there is no air circulation, therefor, some places in the freezer build ice. The defroster is working and melting the ice that drips to the bottom bins.
I suggest you remove everything from the freezer. unplug the frigde. Let all ice build ups melt. Remove ice from the foodstuff and put back in. Make sure that vents in the freezer and fridge are not blocked.

I PURCHASED A WHIRLPOOL GS5VHAXWY FRIDGE AND THE ICE IS NOT COMING OUT OF THE DISPENSOR WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE ITEM

first thing to check is that you have water going on the inside of the ice maker tray simply stick your finger inside and see if there is water if there is no water you would then look at the water valve or the line in the back of your fridge if there is water or rather there is ice inside the tray you would want to remove the ice maker and run the tray under hot water then reinstall to test if this does not work then replace the ice maker hope this helps

The receiver board has an eye on it (it receives the signal and it may need cleaning. A Q-tip should do. Close the spring loaded panel and insert Q-tip and wipe.

Ice maker will not eject ice after it is frozen, fails to rotate

At least you know the water is getting to it. The module is behind the square plastic cover, it fails easily. If you see any soot or melted spot on the timer wheel, it's done. The new one must be installed very carefully, don't force it. It is best to take the unit out of the freezer to be sure everything is aligned properly. The bin switch is delicate, must be handled carefully.
