My Troy bilt squall 2100 snowblower does not idle steady. It races and slows while idling.

you could try opening up the idle/mixture screw another turn to make the transmission from idle to throttle better
governors just open the throttle butterfly according to the spring tension setting from the throttle lever

CHECK TO SEE IF THE ICE FROZE I THE CHUTE YOU MAY HAVE TO PULL THE COVER OFF THE TOP THIS SOUNDS LIKE THERE MIGHT BE ICE BUILD UP ALSO AFTER THE COVER IS PULLED OFF CHECK THE GEAR THAT TURNS THE CHUTE BY TURNING THE HANDLE

The starter could be bad. Remove starter and see if it will turn over when 120v is applied.Check the wires to starter first! Good-Day!

Tune up and carb adjustment. There are two screws on your carb which control the low end(idle) and the high end (throwing power) Play with those with very small turns to adjust.

You need to remove the lower panel to access the engine. In the engine blow-out, the oil drain plug is numbered 77 (bottom of the crank case).

Remove starter, and see if it will turn over by applying 120v to starter. If it wont work. Starter is bad. Good-Day!

Is the gas making it TO the new plug? Pull it over a dozen or so times on full choke and then pull the uh to see if its wet meaning the engine is getting fuel. Also make sure the safeties and off switches aren't preventing it from starting

I share your frustration. We just had our first snow fall of the season and my Troy Bilt Squall 2100 would not start or do anything. The snow blower is well maintained and does not have 2 hours use. I use 0-30 synthetic oil and installed fresh gasoline. It is simply maddening to have plunked down close to $500.00 and have a useless snow blower. Trying to get through to Troy Bilt's help line is next to impossible.
