SOURCE: I was given a Uniden Bearcat base scanner: model #

You were given a fantastic scanner -- the BC9000XLT was Uniden's top of the line when it was introduced in 1995, and many newer scanners are lacking features and frequency coverage found in the 9000. To unlock all of its secrets, you can visit the link below and download the complete owner's manual:

How to program channels

The BC60XLT is limited to ten channels. Programming is best described in the factory manual, which you can download and print here:

Uniden Bearcat BC 350A scanner won't pick up 800 channels

You BC350A provides coverage of popular bands between 29 and 512MHz, so it is not capable of receiving signals in the 800MHz range. Sorry, but you'll need a different scanner to follow the action.

I have a uniden bearcat portable and base I cant figure out how to program it

With the scanner powered ON,

1. Press [HOLD].
“HOLD” appears on the
display.
2. Press [PROG]. CH appears
and blinks to indicate that you
are in the Programming Mode.
To change the displayed frequency,
use [UP] or [DOWN]
while “CH” is blinking.
3. Press [PRIVATE]. “PRIVATE”
appears on the display.
If you want to program it into
another bank, press the
desired bank key. The lowest
open channel appears on the
display.
2 screens alternate to indicate
that open channel is available
to be programmed.
The scanner automatically
selects the lowest open
channel (000.0000) for easy
programming. If all channels
have been programmed (there
are no open channels in the
bank), channel 1 appears.
Use [UP] or [DOWN] to select
a new channel and even overwrite
old channels.
4. Press [PROG] to store the
frequency in the desired
channel.
Note: Press [BAND] to escape
from programming mode before
step 4.

Bearcat scanner 350a

There are several ways to program your scanner, so the best thing for you to do is review the owner's manual for your scanner. You can view/download/print your scanner manual at:

Uniden BC350C Scanner

Start by pressing 'band' & select the band that the freq you want to program is within by using the 'up' or 'down' button, then press 'search' , when you see the display getting close to the desired freq, press 'hold' & then use the 'up' & 'down' buttons to zero in on it. Then press 'program', then press 'private' & select the channel you wish to put it on (1-50). Repeat this process as needed. I find it's easier & faster to program all the freqs within a band as you can assign them to whatever channel you wish within the 50 in the private bank, then do the other bands. Hope this clarifies it, good luck. Regards from Community Communications in Wanaque, NJ.
