Start by pressing 'band' & select the band that the freq you want to program is within by using the 'up' or 'down' button, then press 'search' , when you see the display getting close to the desired freq, press 'hold' & then use the 'up' & 'down' buttons to zero in on it. Then press 'program', then press 'private' & select the channel you wish to put it on (1-50). Repeat this process as needed. I find it's easier & faster to program all the freqs within a band as you can assign them to whatever channel you wish within the 50 in the private bank, then do the other bands. to listen to the programed channels you need to turn the squelch up to to the right and press scan it will scan all the channels and stop on the ones that people are talking on. you can down load the user manual at the bearcat scanner website.
