I need to update my bios on A Dell PC - Computers & Internet

Was there a problem that required a BIOS update? Did the update come from Windows or Dell? Have you tried a system restore/recovery? Can you get to anything at boot?

Assuming you did the correct bios update, you may need to remove the CMOS battery for about 30 seconds and then replace it.

BIOS updates are not necessary unless you have hardware compatibility issues or hardware related system instability. To obtain the most recent version of your BIOS (or any other downloads or info), go to Dell's website, click support and enter your model number, and it will show you anything you might need. It will do all the work for you!

If you are looking to update your BIOS then you can obtain the latest version from Dell. There should also be a step by step guide on how to correctly perform the upgrade. However, unless there is a real need to upgrade your BIOS then you should not have to do this. I have worked on and custom built several PC's and have never had to update the BIOS.

DONT EVER UPDATE BIOS....99.99% IT WILL MAKE UR PC A DUD....MFGS DONT MAKE NEW UPDATES FOR OLD BIOS...AS BIOS CHIPS ARE HARDWARE MFG SPECIFIC...IF U STILL WANT TO DO...U NEED TO BE 1000000% SURE OF WHAT BIOS IS IN UR MACHINE AND WHAT BIOS SOFTWARE IS INSIDE THAT.....EVEN I AS AN EXPERT DONT ATEMPT IT....AS ANY CHANGE TO BIOS IS DIFFICULT TO REVERSE....

Go to the Dell support website (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WLH&catid=1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_1526&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=True&scanConsent=False) and check if there's am update for your system BIOS. Download the BIOS update and run it. You might need to check the instructions on how to update your BIOS. System should restart after BIOS is updated. System should be charging the battery by then.
