You have to open the side panel on the PC to expose the internal components inside. Then it should be locatable on the motherboard; usually held in place by a clip. You can also inquire on YouTube.

I how do I replace cmos battery

Get in contact with Gateway before you change it. On some devices removing the CMOS battery and leaving it out for about 1 minute will clear all passwords, but please check with Gateway first, as it may result in you bricking your PC.

Need to replace cmos battery in Gateway MP8708

Power down PC. Open the PC tower. Look at the motherboard and find the CMOS battery. Looks like the picture below. Make sure you touch some sort of metal area on the PC to ground yourself before touching the components. Use something thin to pop the old CMOS battery out. The CMOS batteries are usually universal. CR2032 is the usual type used. These can be found at a CVS or Walgreens. Once you have acquired the next battery, make sure the CR2032 is facing up and just press it in.

CMOS location in gateway model # 6332

The CMOS battery on the Gateway M-6332 is located either next to or underneath the WiFi card. With the laptop upside down, loosen the three screws along the rear edge of the panel next to the fromt of the laptop. Remove the panel and you'll see the hard drive and the WiFi card. There will be one or two Mini PCI Express slots. I've replaced the mainboard in this one, don't recall if the original only had one slot, the one I installed has two.

That's where the CMOS battery is, held to the board with a piece of double sided tape and connected by a pair of wires to a small plug.

My nephhew just bought a gateway w350a t series laptop at auction ,the bios is password protected, does anyone know where the cmos battery is ,i cant find it anywhere. i took off all accessable covers and...

The CMOS battery is attached to the underside of the motherboard. you will need to carefully disassemble the entire laptop to access it. If there is a bios password there is no way to tell if there is an issue with the HDD. I would start with removing the CMOS and then resetting the Motherboard using the reset jumper. You need to look up the board and find where the reset jumper is, probably through a web forum or the manufacturer website. after resetting and replacing the battery, you may still run into issues...the password may be set through a TPM chip. This chip stores the security settings in flash memory. The jumper may reset this also, but I am not 100% on that.

Method.

When your Gateway computer is switched off, it still keeps track of various system information such as the date and time, thanks to a small battery that never powers off. The size and thickness of a dime, the CMOS battery can run out and need to be replaced. You can swap out a dead CMOS battery with a new one by removing the Gateway computer's side access panel.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Phillips-head screwdriver

  • CMOS battery replacement

  1. 1

Shut down the computer. Remove the power cable from the back of the computer case. Disconnect the cables for the monitor, mouse, keyboard, and printer.

  2. 2

Set the computer case over on its side. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two case screws at the far left end of the case.

  3. 3

Slide the side access panel to the left and remove it from the computer case. Find the CMOS battery port, which will be located to the lower left of the processor in most Gateway computer models.

  4. 4

Lift up the plastic clip holding the CMOS battery in place. Slide a fingernail under one side of the battery and lift it off the motherboard port.

  5. 5

Check the orientation of the new battery and compare it to the CMOS motherboard port. Push the new battery into place in the same direction that the old battery was facing. Push down the plastic clip.

  6. 6

Set the side access panel back onto the Gateway computer case and reattach the case screws. Plug in the Gateway computer and power it on.

Gateway 450rog cmos battery

The CMOS battery is located on the motherboard, just under the bottom left side of the keyboard, by the letter 'V". It looks like a clock battery, marked 3V (volts). The battery comes out of its "cage/connector" by gently lifting it with a small flat screwdriver. Replacement CMOS batteries are inexpensive and readily available at any computer shop. Hope that helps
