How to clear an unknown BIOS or CMOS password

If you know the current password just boot the machine and look for what key to press to get into the Bios or Setup. There you can change it if you know the current password.

If you don't know the password, then you will need to remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard and let it sit for a couple of hours. This will cause the computer to clear memory of everything. Then replace the CMOS battery and start the machine. Unfortunately you might have to disassemble the laptop to get to the CMOS battery.

To reset the Bios Password do the following.

If you know the Bios Password then when you boot the machine look for which key is required to press to get you into the Bios or System Setup. Once inside you can change the password if you know the current password.

If you don't know the Bios Password, then you will need to unplug the laptop and you will need to remove the CMOS Battery from the laptop that is on the motherboard. Some computer models make getting to the CMOS battery simple by remove the Hard Drive or Memory Chip door on the bottom of the laptop and voila there it is. I fyou can get to the CMOS Battery remove it and let the laptop sit a couple of hours before replacing it. This clears the computer's memory of everything including the BIOS Password. Most manufacturers make it a difficult task which means you will have to disassemble your laptop to get to it. Hello you just have to remove the cmos battery:



Press the release pad and the battery will pop out
DO NOT have any power on disconnect all power and usb cables
when you do that.

Wait for 10 min. or so with the battery out
and the bios will reset back to factory settings.

Replace the battery and boot up your machine and enter the bios
you kave to configure the boot order.

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log in if you cant log in

during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there

The BIOS and Supervisor passwords cannot be removed or changed unless you know the existing password(s). If you forget your BIOS or Supervisor password, you will have to have the password removed by a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider

If you don't know the BIOS password for your System, or you have forgotten it, then you might

have to reset your CMOS, which means you will have to unscrew your system, remove all cables

supplying power to the board, locate the CMOS battery(A small, circular battery inserted into

a socket on the Motherboard) and remove it for a few seconds, then replace it and screw your

system back. This will reset your system's CMOS back to its Factory default settings.

(If you cant unscrew your PC yourself, you can just get a good technician to do it for you instead.)

For you to reset the bios all you need to do is to take it out, but before you do that you'll need to power off your laptop.
