F6? Why are you... Never mind, get into your bios, which last I checked was not f6 and see if your HDD etc is okay. Check the CPU
too in the bios. If for some reason f6 is to get into the bios you have a brick. The board or CPU is done. Of course there could be some power issue or ram... Try reseating the ram and any and all power leads and see if that helps.
That is for Key Lock. Go ahead and press fn +F6 and then open notepad and see what happens. Some of your keys won't work and some will type in other letters than the one you pushed.
XP does not include SATA drivers in the distribution. You need to get the SATA drivers for your particular model from HP's website and watch for the prompt to hit F6 when prompted to install SATA or RAID drivers.
The trick is that the mechanism to add these drivers at this point assumes that you have a floppy drive which is rare these days. There are a number of work-arounds for this, here is one:
the reason you probably cant install is because your probably trying to install windows XP on a sata hard drive.. xp doesnt contain sata hard drive drivers.. u either have to use vista, find the sata controller drivera nd load from floppy by hitting F6 during setup.. or have someone slipstream the drivers into a copy of xp.. try emailing [email protected] as I know they can help
my compaq presario 5000 desktop will start and get stuck on the compaq logo screen with a cursor in the right hand corner.I try pressing F6 and it won't do anything.I tried other keys and it does nothing.Apparently my granddaughter told me ther was a message came up sayinf computer is locking up.Any help will be appreciated.

Since u said that ur screen flashed and also u said that when u connected an external VGA nothing would display so from these two i can tell you that it is a hardware problem and that too with the VGA card/display card.
