Is it getting power? Check the plug at the computer for DC volts? Has the AC/DC jack in the laptop been damaged due to pulling on the cord? Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs.
Probably the DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer. Take a ink pen and stick the tip in where the power cord goes to see if it wiggles. If so, that's your problem.
That netbook has just a VGA output so only a VGA cable will work - your projector must have a VGA input, check that since very few new ones still have it.
