Most fuel-pump relay units are located under the dashboard near the steering column. In some cases, the unit is located in the area where the steering column is mounted or near the engine's firewall.

The module is typically installed on or very close to the fuel pump, and in the early years of the component's use, this practice led to a design fault. Manufacturers, including Ford, initially placed the module inside the vehicle immediately above the fuel pump, typically just beneath the floor pan.

6 Symptoms of Bad fuel Pump Is Going Out

lSputtering Engine. Your fuel pump is telling you something if your engine starts to sputter once you've hit the top speed on the highway.

· Overheating Engine.
· Low Fuel Pressure.
· Power Loss.
· Surging Engine.
· Gas Mileage Decrease.
· Dead Engine.

Why not just use voltmeter, to check all fuses for hot both sides? key on. (need a video?)_
why not post symptoms then ask a question.?
must we send for ever looking for that which doesnt exist.?
and did you know there is more than one engine?
and both are wired different with different EFI systems?/
4A or 7A? engine, its a toyota corolla btw.

eg:
pump pressure is zero. (gages)
i check relay, the FP relay is closed.
i check the relay input and no 12vd.
sure bad fues, is there is one.
but on many cars , lots of other things go dead too. with this fuse.

ill now guess 4a engine with coin toss. vin code 6, engine,
i open glove box. and see the book the opr guide (yes buy one)
and turn to fuse page.
or login to alldata.com and stop guessing.
i look under prizm and corolla, 93 for best clues. (big hint, wink)

this EFI has 2 relays, one is the main relay,
other is fuel pump
the main sends power to the pump relay.
so there are 2 fuses,
one is marked
EFI-Fhtr fuse
and
IG coil. fuse

the main relay drops out of the transmission A/T is not in park or netral.
if manual stick car, the clutch switch does the same

alldata.com

look up your car, your trans, your engine.
and see the schematics.

SOURCE: where is the water pump on 93 geo prism, small engine

You're right. it could very well be your water pump, but I would suggest replacing your thermostat before trying to tackle replacing your water pump. However, if your thermostat turns out not to be the problem, I have enclosed step-by-step instructions for removal and re-installation of your water pump. Hope this proves to be helpful. Have a nice evening!

1993
Geo Prism Water Pump Removal/Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the engine coolant from the radiator.
  2. Remove all drive belts.
  3. Support the engine using suitable equipment. Place a wooden block between the jack and engine. Remove the right engine mount and insulator.
  4. Remove the No. 3 (upper) and No. 2 (middle) timing belt covers.
  5. If equipped with power steering, raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the front transaxle mount. Lower the vehicle, remove the cooling fan assembly.
  6. Remove the mounting bolt for the dipstick tube; remove the tube and dipstick. Immediately plug the hole in the block to prevent fluid from contaminating the oil.
  7. Remove the electrical connector for the coolant temperature sending unit.
  8. Remove the 2 nuts securing the engine coolant pipe to the cylinder block.
  9. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the coolant inlet pipe from the vehicle.
  10. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the coolant inlet hose from the water pump.
  11. If equipped with power steering, raise the engine and remove the mounting bolts for the water pump. Remove the water pump and O-ring from the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Install a NEW O-ring to the vehicle. Install the water pump and torque the retaining bolts EVENLY to 11 ft. lbs.
  2. Lower the engine if necessary, and connect the coolant hose to the water pump. Reconnect the engine coolant inlet pipe to the vehicle and secure to hose with clamp and secure to block with 2 nuts. Tighten the engine coolant inlet pipe nuts to 11 ft. lbs.
  3. Connect the electrical connector for the coolant temperature sending unit.
  4. Install the oil guide tube and torque the retaining bolt to 84 inch lbs. Install the oil level indicator to the guide tube.
  5. Install the radiator fan assembly, if necessary.
  6. If equipped with power steering, raise and safely support the vehicle. Install the front transaxle mount. Torque the through bolt nut to 64 ft. lbs. and 2 mount nuts to 47 ft. lbs.
  7. Lower the vehicle (if necessary) and install the No. 3 (upper) and No. 2 (middle) timing belt covers.
  8. Support the engine using suitable equipment. Install the right engine mount and insulator.
  9. Remove all engine lifting equipment.
  10. Install and adjust all drive belts.
  11. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Fill the cooling system. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.

SOURCE: on a 1991 geo tracker trying to find location of fuel pump relay?

The fuel pump relays are mounted on an "L" bracket underneath the ECM. Both have something to do with the Fuel pump. Be careful not to get it confused with the horn relay it is in the same vicinity (under the dash on the drivers side).

I have a 93 geo prism I went out and started it to let it warm up I was stand by the car it ran for 2 mins and shut off and now it will not start please help

Sounds like the fuel pump possibly went out. Try sitting in the car with radio and everything off and door open, turn the key to the "on" position and listen for the pump to come in. It'll be a humming sound. If you don't hear it then it's not working.

the link is really just a large fuse. for A./C
did blow the main fuses. messing with battery or alternator or starter>?

on all cars ,before messing, pull the NEG battery lug first.
this prevents blowing out those big puppy fuses.
