Why does my 2002 chryser voyager keeps cutting off and back fires

It is very important that the crankshaft and timing marks get correctly lined up. Did you make sure you started with the Crankshaft timing mark on TDC (Top Dead Center).

Also, these angines have crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. If you knocked one or both of them out of adjustment they will not see the engine soinning and the computer will not turn on the Spark or ignition module.

On cars that use both if the two modules dont hit precisely as calibrated, maybe being one tooth off on the belt. it will not fire.

This is a feature to protect Zero Clearance engines from damage. this is very common in the chryser 3.0 as it is actually a Mitshubishi engine.

Rather then guessing as to what the problem is ,an just replacing parts ,your best bet would be to have a qualified repair shop diagnose it.

You can add some life to your battery by opening it and adding some water. it gives the battery some short term life, but not very reliable, the best way is to install a new battery.

Is the check engine light on if so have the code extracted and then post the code give us a better idea if its not on check the throttle position sensor or tps.

get the larger 1 if it will fit, you won't regret it,with all the electrical drain on batteries and with winter coming to keep the battery charged,spend a few more $$$'s its well worth it

If you have 2 people it is a lot easier You will need to remove the fan guard if there is no room. than on the idler pulley there is a square hole that a 3/8 socket wrench handle with a cheater bar and a socket extention will go in to now just push hard on the handle and the pully will take the tension off the belt so that you can remove it. please please if you dont have the routing diagram for the belt write it down how the belt goes before you remove it. put on the new belt and once again use the socket wrench and push hard on the idler pulley and slide the belt under the pulley and slowly release the wrench

TRY CHECKING THE VALVE LIFTERS, MINE WERE CLOGGED UP THICK AND SOLID. DRAIN ALL OIL CLEAN SUMP CLEAN LIFTERS AND VIOLA!
