Few months ago had fuel pump assembly replaced. Not the pump but the assembly. Location is behind the rear seat above the fuel tank and actually its in the tank but can be reached by removing the rear seat back. (Mechanic told me al this and how he did it) Now today, I his a bump on a country road about the size of half a speed bump from the road being repaved and the edge where the different pavement meets. At first as soon as i hit the bump, immediately the engine cut off like it died. All power on, just like if I turned the key back one click and cut it off. But it did it on its own. After some trouble shooting, I found the 10A fuse blown for the fuel pump. I replaced it with the audio 10A fuse and it started. (I forgot to mention that after it died and i pulled over and came to a rest, i did try starting for some time and it sounded like it wanted to start but also sounded like no fuel was getting to the engine. Probably remaining fuel in line giving false glimmers of hope!)Anyway, I drove away got maybe a half mile down road, hit another bump but much smaller one, but noticable since my suspension is a little overdue most likely, and it died again. I check the same fuse and it was blown again. I replaced it with another 10A from the air conditioner, and as soon as i turned the key it blew. I know when key is turned, the fuel pump immediately begins working to send a shot of fuel to the engine for starting. So i am thinking possibly a short somewhere and the second bump either welded the shorting wire to its contact maintaining the shorted condition where the first bump made contact and separated itself....ughhhhh think i am on the right track? another idea or direction to look without having to take the seats out again and go after the assembly at the fuel pump?

I would say that you are on the right track , I think that maybe when the work was done on the fuel pump assy the mechanic may have pinched the power wire and hitting the bumps has caused it to short.you will have to take the seats out again (sorry). You need to look for a damaged wire or evidence of arcing .Hope this helps.

Where is the full filter

I believe there is actually an access panel in front of the second row seat behind the drivers seat that you can access the top of the tank, fuel pump and possibly the fuel filter. Lift up the carpeting and check.
1. Remove the fuel tank cap to lower the fuel tank's internal pressure. 2. Locate access cover. 3. Remove the fuel pump & fuel filter assembly installation screws, then remove the fuel pump & fuel filter assembly from the fuel tank.

Fuel Filter Location

I called the dealer and the dealer said it does not have an in-line fuel filter, but there is one the fuel tank (actually, it is a fuel pump strainer part#FS233 for $10.oo).
Put the rear seats down and open the trunk for ventilation and open the gas cap for gasoline pressure release.
The fuel pump cover is right behind the rear car seats in the trunk.
Be very careful when messing with gasoline. I will be replacing the strainer this weekend, but I plan to siphon out the gasoline before I do (I just feel safer with the tank empty)
