The most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Tv was working fine earlier today, powered off normally and came back home to power on and tv is not working. what would cause tv to not power on. checked all outlets etc

Hi Audra,
This happens many a times. If you can do, please check or replace the mains lead. If it works, well and good. Beyond this it comes to opening the set and examining it for fault and for this you may have to consult some local TV tech.
Good luck.

TV was working fine - suddenly shut off and would not turn on again - checked all outlets, plugs, etc. no good. DVD player works fine but no TV power

check all the fuze places which you can check without open body of tv.if dont find then its in your tv which shuld be repair by service center.mostly power plug fuze is shocked.if your power plug is ok then fuze will be inside the body of tv and don't even think to solve it in your own way because its not normal fuze.

I have a trutech undercounter mount DVD/TV combo. It was working fine, and all of a sudden it turned off and will not come back on. We checked the outlet and it is fine.

Unplug the power cord from wall outlet and take the unit apart follow the power cord inside the unit it goes to the fuse. Check the fuse most of the time the fuse is bad.
