Do you mean you're using Thunderbird as your mail client?

There are usually only two things wrong when this happens:

1) You typed in the name of the servers incorrectly (i.e. smtp.isp.com or something). There should be two settings. One for inbound and one for outbound.

2) Your ID and/or password are incorrect. If they have a web client, try your ID/Password there.

The correct settings can be found here:
http://www.netfaqs.com/faqs/settings.asp

If all else fails, go to this address:
http://isp.com/contact.asp

and contact either by phone or email.

Confirm with your ISP the settings needed for Thunderbird, such as POP3 for incoming and outgoing mail along with your username to access your emails. If you are using Thunderbird to get Hotmail/Yahoo/Gmail emails then check with their support pages for further help.

SOURCE: I am attempting to transfere

Applogies for the copy and paste, but it's rather long winded to type, but sky tools is not the email setting, see below:-

1.Open Outlook Express, click Tools then select Accounts 2. Click the Mail tab, then click Add and select Mail 3. The wizard will start. Type in your name then click Next 4. Enter your email address then click Next 5. Leave the My Incoming Mail Server is a POP3 Server drop down box as POP3. In Incoming Mail Server enter: pop.sky.com (all lowercase, no spaces). In Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server enter: smtp.sky.com (all lowercase, no spaces). 6. In the Account Name Box enter the first part of your @sky.com email address (everything before the @ sign). In the Password Box, enter the password for your @sky.com email account, then click Next. 7. Click Finish 8. To complete the acount creation process click Tools then select Accounts 9. Click the Mail tab, then click Properties 10. Click the My server requires authentication box to place a tick inside. Click OK 11. Repeat the above process for each mail account you want to set up, including sub accounts. Each sub account will have a different email address and password. If you're having trouble sending email from Outlook Express (or other email software), it may mean you need to switch on SMTP authentication.

I am having sky broadband tomorrow how do I get email address changed from my old provider

Unless you use a 3rd party email address like gmail or hotmail then when you stop paying the old provider any email addresses that they supplied will simply cease to exist and will not be accessible. So you need to set up a sky address (or gmail) and tell everyone what the new address is. You can still use the old address as a login id, for example with shops, utilities or ebay, but you will need to log in to each account and change the email address to the new one if you ever want to receive emails from them or to recover the account when you forget your password.

Mozilla Thunderbird will not let me connect to my e-mails because it wants a new password. every password that i submit is rejected Please help

what email provider are you trying to use? can you log in through the web interface? you may need to adjust your actual account address in thunderbird settings, actually add your full address and not just your username or vice versa.

Ok my outlook express for vista2007 wont let me send or reply .when i click on these a enter a product key comes up? its a second hand computer but was brought new by the inlaw.

Without a valid product key you are stuck. You would have to buy a legit copy of Office to get a product key = quite expensive !

But the good news is if you go online and download a copy of "Thunderbird" email software you can set that up and use it for free and it is VERY good.

Mind you a MUCH BETTER solution, but one that will only work if you are using an online email address, such as = Hotmail, Livemail, Yahoo, Gmail, Sky mail, Orange, TalkTalk, etc etc is to simply go to the relevant website, i.e. Sky or TalkTalk etc, as above, and find the link to the "online" email system and log into that with your user name and password. This is easier, safer and can be done from any computer in the world.

Problem to add ymail/yahoo account in Thunderbird

If you have a standard Yahoo! account (US), that does not allow direct access from email programs such as Thunderbird. (Yahoo does not provide the standard mail protocols -- POP3, SMTP, IMAP - which are needed.)

Yahoo does offer that access for its premium "Yahoo! Mail Plus" account. There is an annual fee of $19.99 for that service. See details at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/mailplus/overview/

However, there are some free work-arounds which will allow access to a regular Yahoo Mail account via Thunderbird

(1) WebMail - http://webmail.mozdev.org/
This is a free Thunderbird extension, which provides access to various webmail programs (including Yahoo). You'll need to download and install both the basic extension and the Yahoo plug-in; then follow the instructions to configure them for your Yahoo account. See details at

(2) YPOPs! - http://ypopsemail.com/
This is a POP3 gateway, which allows downloading Yahoo Mail into any standard email client (such as Thunderbird). You'll need to configure both the Yahoo settings in Thunderbird and the YPOPs program, so that they will work together.
See articles at:
http://ypopsemail.com/documentation/37-email-configuration/60-thunderbird
http://opensourcearticles.com/thunderbird_15/english/part_10

Hope that's helpful.

SETTING UP AN E/MAIL ADDRESS

Hi,
The default email program given with Linpus linux is Mozilla Thunderbird.
If you already have email address in any of the website or domain, you can configure it with Thunderbird. But you need to know the various parameters like Incoming and outgoing mail server address, port addresses, etc.
You cannot configure Free mail services like yahoo with Thunderbird.
You can configure Gmail with thunderbird.
Please read the following link to configure your Thunderbord with your Gmail account.

How can i get me sky emails connected to my i phone

Log into Sky webmail, click mail settings, forwarding and pop/imap
enable IMAP.

iPhone:
Configure your mail client:

1. Tap Settings.
2. Tap Mail.
3. Tap Add Account.
4. Tap Other. (Note: Don't tap Sky Email; if you do, you'll set up POP rather than IMAP. We are aware of this issue and are currently working to make setting up Sky Email more intuitive for the iPhone).
5. Make sure that:
- The IMAP tab is highlighted
- Host Name is imap.tools.sky.com
- Username is your full Sky Email address, including '@sky.com'
- For Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), Host Name is smtp.tools.sky.com

6. Tap Save.

And you've finished. You can verify your Advanced settings by tapping Settings, then [your Sky Email IMAP Account] followed by Advanced.

Incoming Settings:
- Use SSL: ON
- Authentication: password
- Server Port: 993 for IMAP.

Outgoing Settings:
- Use SSL: ON
- Authentication: Password
- Server Port: 465
