Update.zip wont update

If there is a new version available, follow these steps :

Tap "check update" in "Settings"
Then go to "about" and go to "system update" to check if the firmware is latest.

Steps to update :
1) Go to "Need Help?" page of ASUS official website http://www.asus.com/support to download ZIP file of firmware.
2) click the ZIP file after downloading is completed
3) Connect your tablet with PC via micro USB cable, and copy the ZIP file to the root dictionary of internal storage of tablet
4) Detach micro USB cable from the tablet to make the notification for firmware update popped up on status bar
5) Tap "System Update File Detected.." and follow steps to update firmware
Now your firmware is updated.

you will need an updated post code file that allows 7 digit post codes (if your in the uk)

Just download that file then extract the files ,plug in your tomtom to your pc, open up the tomtom device in my computer(XP) or computer(Vista/Windows 7) and copy the extracted files into the zip folder, then unplug the device and you will be able to enter full postcodes

have you extracted the files from the zip folder on to your usb stick. it will not work if you leave them in the zip folder.

Since you've downloaded the zip file, were you able to unpack it with
Winzip op Winrar ?
When using XP you can unpack by:
1. [Right click on the zip file] Open with > Compressed maps [left click on Compressed maps]
2. The next screen shows the opened zip file. On the left side the
folder task manager can be opened ( Folders / Maps in the top bar not selected): "Unzip all files" : follow up the Windows unzip wizard and
remember the location of the files.

How to do the firmware update is explained in the pdf file "How to update 1.0.0-B2 - VP8870 .pdf", added to the firmware update in the
zip file.
Remember:
While performing firmware update all data will be erased !

Go to the VSplanetcom site. There is a lot of help there for the VS recorders. You have to be careful as you CAN clobber the built in loader so that you cannot boot and recover at all.

Essentially, for the update, you have to do a MIDI update to version 1.05 and then a ZIP disk update to 2.05.

YOU CANNOT go from less than1.05 to 2.05 directely!!! Also a ZIP update to 1.05 doesn't seem to work.

apparently your sd card that came in the phone is not being read properly. Remove the card and clean it with a cloth and put it back in the phone. I am assuming this occured while you were receiving an update on your phone.

1- copy to sdcard root the file with the name (update) with ext (zip)

2-insert sdcard to phone and hold home key and press (end call or turn on)

3. when you see a triangle and small cellular picture open the keyboard and press (alt+L)

4-you will see yellow text, press (alt+S) check what will do in the text.

5- when you finish press home +back to reboot and wait. for the flash of radio

6-you will see chip picture with arrow..wait,wait AND THE PHONE REBOOT ITSELF.

7-finish

Do not have recorder connected until all software installed and then reboot computer. Once computer rebooted then connect the recorder.

Try each one. If doesn`t work, try to install using the Windows Update and Automatic installation.
I have a few modens like this one here. Sometimes it installs with above drivers, sometimes with Windows Update.

Note: Before trying Windows Update, try to install all the drivers listed first. After you tried install those drivers, go to Windows Update attempt. I don`t know why, but allways works for me. I Don`t know if is a incompatibility with motherboard`s chipset, but still, i can`t wait to sell all my modens like this one, and never buy it again for resell.

Perhaps it is just a matter of old maps. According to the Magellan web pages, new maps will be available for download and update in August 2007.
