I have a Magellan Roadmate 6000T, and for some towns It wont let me route to an address in that town. My example is Windsor CT 06095, I cant find this city in the alpha look up, only by zip code. But when it comes up via zip code, it wont let me select it, it clicks but doesnt move to the next screen to allow me to enter the street name. I can select POI's in that town and it routes me just fine. But if i was to try and enter 415 broad st windsor CT 06095 it wont let me do that... and ive had one other city do that too... I updated the firmware in an attempt to fix this problem but that didnt work... anyone have any ideas?

The Magellan Roadmate 300 and 300R both require preloaded map data to be supplied from an SD card. You can't just pop any card into the slot and get it working. It requires a card of 2GB or less loaded with Magellan mapping software. Magellan provides nationwide maps and regional maps. The 300R was a regional unit while the 300 included a national basemap.
If you have a model 300, you can still use the highway basemap to get routing from city to city but you will not have detailed address routing at the residential street level unless you insert an SD card with Magellan software. If you have a 300R model, the unit will be useless without the Magellan software on an SD card.
Magellan doesn't seem to offer much software support for this unit any more and the maps are difficult to find.
theres no specific driver for your device or vista as long as your running xp sp2 or higher, your device drive installs automaticlly. if it doesnt, there could be a few reasons why.
make sure the battery is fully charged and using a known good usb cable and assuming there is no problems with the gps (like its been formated) turn the 6000t on. (do not connect the usb cable yet)
(for people that bought one of these and cant start it, you must hold the power button for about 15 seconds)
once you enter the agreement page click ok, then connect your 6000t to your pc and wait until it tells you, your devise is not installed.
From the Main Menu, tap the Enter Address icon.
2. Select the method to enter the city: Enter City, Enter Zip Code, or Previous City.
Enter City:
Use the keypad to enter the first few
characters of the city name. Tap OK to
display the list of cities found.
The button in the lower right corner is used
to select the sorting order of the list, by zip
code or alphabetically.
Tap on the desired city in the list.
This is the way I do it. Then I get the # of miles to the city.
Good luck & have fun.
There are various reasons this could be happening. To start eliminating the main causes, go to the Magellan site and create a profile for yourself. You will than be able to download the latest firmware update and the newest maps. This will fix connectivity issues and at the same time give you the latest and greatest of what your device has to offer.
Sometimes when this occurs it is due to the unit having the address listed differently then you might think it is. It is usually listed according to postal regulations, meaning it may BE in one town, but LISTED as another town. If the unit cannot find the address as entered, press the back button until you get to city. Press SEARCH ALL and try your address again. This may help. Let me know what it says when you do this.
goto prefences/deleate active track, should also be able to clear it if it was placed in routes by checking folders and select it,next press menu, then select deleate
My Roadmade firmware is version 1.81. I had the same problem. I called them and they didn't help with anything. I went to Magellen's site and downloaded the firmware upgrader (which is 1.81), and reflashed my device with it (Yes, it's the same version as it was before). Perhaps a file was corrupted in my unit or something, because after updating my firmware (to the same version), it started to work.
