Screen goes black and power light goes out after a few minutes

I have had this monitor for about 14 months now, no problems until now.

For some reason it just seems to turn itself off, the screen goes black and the power light goes out. The only thing to make it come back on is to unplug it for a while then plug it back in again, and then it will only stay on for a few minutes at most.

Screen goes black, power light goes out (not yellow but out completely), any thoughts?

Would it actually overheat within seconds of coming on like that? Sometimes it will come on for a couple of minutes, other times it goes off within 30 seconds of plugging it in.

No, the room stays at between 72-75, there is no ambient heat at all other than from the computer itself, but that is sitting on the floor and the monitor up on the desk.

When I try to turn it on it turns itself off.

It would seem that one of the internal components has failed / overheated Dont open the rear of the monitor !

if pos drop it into your nearest pc repair shop and have is serviced it may just need cleaned to free it from dust build up
on the inner parts this may be causing the unit to over heat

yes it's possible for the unit to overheat very quickly

even more so with it being intermitent that way it would

depend on the ambient temprature around the unit (does it do it more so when the heating is on or the room is warmer ?)

best to have it serviced then you will know whats what !

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

Dell 1905FP powers up but screen goes black after a few minutes

The monitors inverter seems to be failing. If you look up close, can you see a very faint image of the desktop?

You should think about getting a new monitor it might be cheaper than repairing.

One of the two monitors will cease displaying screen image and begin rotating between a BLACK/WHITE/GRAY/Primary Color Bars every other second following a few minutes after start up. Have tried Restar

It might be the input from the graphics card. Try swapping the two monitors' feeds to see if the problem is with the monitor or the card. The monitor seems to be going into a screensaver mode since there's no signal. The flashing light could mean there's a power supply problem, or no signal.

Asus Monitor

Here are a few possible problems with your monitor
1, Backlight gone bad
2. Power Supply gone bad
3. Wrong display resolution
Given that your monitor is only 14 months old, I would lean toward
either a bad capacitor in the power supply or the screen resolution
needs to be changed (boot up in safe mode and change the resolution)
The power supply problem would require some dis-assembly and working with high voltage. Not for the faint of heart..

LCD screen goes black repeatedly

Have you checked the light on your power supply? My monitor will go black and I noticed the light on my AC power supply was off. It was very hot so I unplugged it and let it cool down. When I plugged it back in my monitor worked fine until the power supply started to over heat again.
