Unfortunately I have now solution. But since misery love company, take comfort that I'm experiencing exactly the same problem, even after the software update.
An update does not always mean a map update, it could just be a software update, as in they found an error that had to be corrected so they released an update. Run the update. As for the maps, these can be anywhere from 6 weeks to 20 years before they get an update, depends on when the companies that do the gps mapping, make it around and have enough changes for the gps UNIT maker to purchase these new map updates. Hope this helps
You need a Tom Tom USB Cradle that will allow you to connect your tom tom to a computer. Assuming you already have one, then just connect the Cradle to a working USB port on the computer, then with the computer turned on, plug your GPS into the cradle. It should come on automatically and ask you "Connect to Computer?" Just press Yes on the GPS screen and your GPS will attempt to talk with your computer. It will automatically download updates for your system software and any mapping corrections made by you of other users. If it does not automatically download updates, then you need to launch Tom Tom Home. Once this launches one of the first screens has a button titled "Update My GPS" Just touch this bitton, or click it with your mouse... and you will be away.
First you need to buy the correct USB lead that will connect you unit to your PC. They can cost upto £19 brand new.
Then you need to go to myGarmin and register your unit ID with the secure website. Because you will already have maps already on the unit you can buy lifetime updates for £99.
You may have to perfom an unit update prior to the map updates as you have never hooked it up the Garmin website.
You have a "pre-owned" device. Since these are sought after devices - many private sales are for stolen devices.
If purchased as a "NEW" or "Factory Refurbished" GPS, contact the seller for return of your money or exchange of the GPS, as it is neither "New" or "Refurbished". "New" and "Factory Refurb" units are cleared of registration information prior to resale.
Well this would have to do with having the update there GPS systems its not the unit itself.. You want to correct something that is already bing taken care of but its a slow proccess there are new streets going up everyday so stay tuned and make sure you update you're Tom-Tom via internet not catch the GPS update Hope this helps..
