I have a Fujitsu Amilo D 7830 laptop and I have been trying to find the setting on the control panel in order to turn off the touchpad.
Unfortunately, I cannot find any reference to it. I can find the settings for the mouse I am using, but not the built in pad.
Can you please tell me how to turn it off?
Thanks
Personally I have found the most practical solution to this is to tape a rigid barrier (I use a small disk in it's packaging) over the touchpad using Magitape (or similar). My laptop is not this model, but it works what ever!

Solution:
To disable the Touchpad the Synaptics driver is necessary.
Please follow the steps below to disable the Touchpad:
After installing the Synaptics driver click on "Start -> system control -> mouse"
You´ll find the additional register card "Settings".
Mark the Touchpad and click on "Disable".
Now the USB mouse can be connected and the Touchpad remains deactivated.
Some Amilos don´t have a PS/2 port, therefore only a USB mouse can be used.
