If you are using IE check under tools, internet options, connections tab, choose never dial a connection, it may be trying to connect to a different service. Also check lan setting, it may also have a proxy listed in there that is no longer available.

check if you have got an internet connection:

try windows update, if windows can access its automatic updates on the microsoft-homeserver,
then it is a browser issue

if so, come again stating: Operaion System used, how connect to internet(dsl, wifi, modem etc.)
and the browser (firefox, internet xplorer, which version, etc)
