My needle keeps breaking every couple seconds while trying to embroider
The problem is being caused because the thickness of the material is not allowing the embroidery foot to land squarely on the fabric. The needle is then close to the back of the foot, and when a jump stitch is encountered, the needle hits the back of the foot and breaks. We used to suggest that people take a small wad of something and stick it under the presser foot lifter to raise it a little--not enough to trigger the sensor, but enough to raise the foot. However, that\'s difficult to do and keep in place on an XL machine.
However, a much better solution is to simply switch to a darning foot. Both can be used for embroidery, but the darning foot is spring loaded and starts out flat. Plus, it\'s much easier to get on, and much easier to get past the rim of the hoop when you\'re putting the hoop on.
One comes with your machine, but if it didn\'t, I have purchased several from eBay. They are VERY inexpensive, and my personal preference is one with a closed large round metal ring at the bottom. All Futuras, including yours, take a low-shank foot. They are very used by many machines and therefore very commonly available. I think you\'ll be very pleased with the results!

check to be sure machine is being threaded correctly first, then when pressure foot is lowered pull thread and see if you are getting tension, if not assembly is bad

My foot does this with different thickness of fabrics, it will make the foot land in different, areas, sometimes making the needle hit the foot. Always check needle position before you start embroidering. once your hoop is ready, check the clearance. I often have to use a small roll of non slip material under the foot handle, the one used to bring the foot down. And I use this to adjust the needle postition so it will always land in the middle of the embroidery foot. There is also a way to adjust the height of the needle arm but that's too complicated to get into here and I've never personally tried it.

I had the same problem for a LONG time. Yesterday I finally removed the top and the cover for the upper tension and found thread fragments under one of the discs. I removed it and used compressed air for dust clean out and it is working wonderfully. Good Luck

Make sure your machine is properly threaded. Use both hands when you thread it. First test your machine sewing regularly, if is fine it could be the tension. It has the tension preset but sometimes it requires for it to be loose or tighter. Also make sure your needles are properly installed. the flat part suppose to be facing away from you.
Are you filling your bobbins in embroidery mode? It helps a lot! Look for the steps online.

Hi,
It depends where do you want the embroidery to be.
If is on the front part of the cap there are two ways:
One is with sticky stabilize rmaking sure all the parts of the cap are laying flat on the sticky paper.
The second way is with a special cap attachment (sells for around 440) that comes also for the singer futura.
