My humidifier does not shut off when the furnice cycles off is this normal?

furnace, " hot air", or boiler.A furnace will take moisture out of the air. Which means your humidifier will run to put moisture back.

I have 2 of these humidifiers and neither seems to be dispensing moisture into the air. The fans work fine and the filters are new. I am using regular tap water and have placed them in a room and ran...

If your "tap water" is from a well, the humidifier may be clogged with mineral scale. Even if it is not well water, your municipal source may have a high mineral content.

Using a 50/50 solution of White Vinegar and water run through the system will usually clean the mineral scale out. In the future, I would recommend that you use Bottled Distilled Water. You can buy it by the gallon, inexpensively at grocery stores or pharmacies.

Air/no moisture

the reason why you might not see the moisture coming out cause it's a cool mist humidifier. to test your humidity in your house you might want to get a humidistat which will letyou know if your getting the humidity in your room or not. now if it's a warm mist you will see it but it's a coolmist so you won't see moisture coming out.

No moisture

Is the level of water dropping? If so, the humidifier is working. If you have a cool air humidifier you won't see any steam or anything at all. You will just feel cool air. Watch the water level and see what happens.

Good Luck.

Moisture not coming out

i realize this answer is a year old; but, i would guess you didn't let the wick become saturated before running. fill the resevoir with water, then let the humidifier sit idle while the wick is saturating. when it is completely saturated, the refill light will go off. refill the resevoir with additional water, as needed. then you can run the humidifier.

Fan is running but humidity is not changing

Q: My unit has been running for several hours. I hear the fan spinning, but I do not notice the water level in the tank decreasing.
A:
First, check the filter to ensure it is wet. If the pad appears dry, remove it from the Base and gently rinse under cool water. Reposition wet filter in the Base. You may also want to note the current moisture level in your home. If the humidity level is over 60% the unit will not put out much moisture
as your air is already saturated.

UV bulb and filter are user replacement items

4b54ac1.jpg Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 20, 2008 If water level in tank is dropping and fan runs then I'd say it is working.

OK?
Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 20, 2008 Q: I hear the fan turning, but I don’t see any mist. Is my humidifier operating properly?
A:
Dry air is pulled through the system and a fan disperses invisible, moisture balanced air. There is no
“mist” emitted. When operating normally you will feel only cool air coming from the unit. Monitor the
water level in your Tank/ Base. If you notice a decrease in the Water Tank over 24 hours then the unit
is operating normally.
