Sounds like you have a dead short. If you continue to use it you will set fire to something.

Smell something burning coming from gear shifter

Are all your gear indicators correctly lit on the shifter? On my car the continual heat of the shifter bulb over the years damaged the plastic holding the bulb socket so that the bulb and socket fell straight down and ended up in the carpet under the shifter, with the hot bulb in the carpet causing the burning smell. The fix? Take the console apart to access the bulb, replace the bulb with an LED one with no heat to speak of, then use electrical tape to hold the bulb and socket in the damaged hole in the console, then reassemble the console.

My battery is losing a percentage of its charging capability every two days. like it wont charge over a certain percentage. today it reaches 65% and wont charge anymore

It sounds like the battery might be faulty. And you may need to get a replacement. Check out your local batteries plus store. www.batteriesplus.com.

Also something to check into is the laptop manufacturer may have a recall on the battery pack for your laptop. Over the past 5 or so years there's been a lot of recalls on them. Virtually all manufacturers were affected. If your laptop battery is part of the recall, you may be entitled to a free replacement. It's worth a shot.

Good Luck,

My acer extensa t4200 switches itself off, and it can't be switched back on. The battery is fully charged (100%)

Unplug the power and pull the battery off and attempt to power it on. Hold the power button on for 30 seconds, release. Hold the power button for 30 more seconds.

Plug it in and attempt to power it on without the battery attached. Acer has some issues with some of their batteries.

If this is the case with yours, I recommend replacing the battery. Contact your local Batteries Plus for a replacement. Their Rayovac batteries have a decent warranty.

Alternatively, there may be a recall on the battery in question. There's been a lot of battery recalls over the past 5 or so years. Check with ACER on it, yours might be involved with it. If so, you may qualify for a free replacement from ACER.

I personally don't have a high regard for ACER customer service. They are difficult to reach, but not impossible.

Good luck,
Mark

Do you have further information on the recall? Such as a recall number? My '06 ML350 is now having this same problem (right brake light out/left brake light out, substitue bulb on). My shop cannot find...

I never found any recall for it, so I got lot of cars same problem all the cars i found faulty light, common problem is burn contact, remove light and have a look inside contact plate you can see burn mark on it, clean the burn mark and put some led by soldering, if it's not work or no burn mark on bulb holder contact plate check wiring, if both way not found any fault possibly faulty rear SAM.

1996 TOYOTA CAMRY IN THE MAIN MONITOR I HAVE A LIGHT ON OF THE BATTERY AND THE CAR WITH THE REAR LIGHTS ON, WHAT IS IT?

The battery light indicates your vehicle has battery voltage or lower, meaning your alternator is not charging correctly or the battery is not receiving the charge correctly.

Have your charging system tested to determine if the fault is the alternator or the battery. it is usually the alt.

The picture of the car with the rear lights on is your rear light failure indicator.
It is telling you that you have either a tail or brake bulb that is blown out... although with age the sensors tend to fail, so if all the bulbs work, look into the tail light module as a problem. It is located in the drivers rear wheel well behind the carpet and is yellow. it typically will have burn marks on it when it fails.

Shut off

If the battery has gone flat before you started re-charging it, the phone has turned itself off.

Let it charge for 5 mins, then hold the red button down until you see it re-booting. You can use it while its charging.

Sometimes the cellular phone receiver does not come on when it reboots, if the battery isn't charged enough - when you make a phone call it will let you know and ask to turn on if the battery is charged enough.

Store it in the special holster it came bundled with - when you put the phone in the holster it has something that turns off the display to save battery (phone still on) and other useful things like activating vibrate mode.

Enjoy.

Battery icon flashing orange

Sorry to here about your problem with the orange flashing light.
1st. You really are not giving enough information to identify your problem.
2nd. If your battery is charging when unit is turned off and you can see a blue charging light on the front left panel, that's good but should only charge for 1 or 1 1/2 hrs. max.
3rd. If your charger is getting to hot to hold while attempting to charge the battery, you may have a bad battery.
4th. If the orange light disappears after removing the battery and replacing it with a known good battery, its the battery.
This unit is an HP and HP has a recall on many battey's. ( I have worked on al least 25 HP Laptops and in two years have not found a battery to return under recall ) Thanks, HP !!!

All and All, it sounds like the battery is NFG.
