Cycle Runs Funny

The dishwasher will drain and then fill with water. The pump motor starts and runs for one minute then stops for three minutes and will then run for one or two more. It continues to do this for the remainder of the cycle. The tablet will drop but will not melt completely and the sanitize light will not be on when finished. Dishes may or may not be clean because they get rinsed by hand before entering the dishwasher.

Hi Bill, this is AP

Based on the symptoms you are describing on how your Frigidaire dishwasher, model PLD2850, is performing I would think that your dishwashers control board could be causing this to happen. Your dishwasher should wash without stopping for longer periods of time. Regrettably, this is not a simple DIY job. I would highly recommend reaching out to an expert technician to ensure the appropriate replacement part is ordered and is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree - thanks for your question, and please do not hesitate to reconnect.

If needed you may use the link below to locate a local authorized technician.

SOURCE: my dishwasher shuts itself off

The lights will typically blink when the door comes open. It may be that when the washer warms up, parts of it expands and allows the door to open slightly. It may also be that the trigger that registers the door being shut is not being tripped.

SOURCE: Dishwasher cycle runs: tablet is not dissovlved, dishes dirty

If the dry cycle has a problem, check these:

Heating element
Drying fan
Thermostat
Heating element Your dishwasher has an electrical heating element that helps to dry the dishes. If the element is burned out, the dishes won't dry properly, and you need to replace the element.

Drying fan Many high-priced dishwashers have a small fan that blows air or heated air into the dishwasher to speed up the drying process. If the fan is defective, you need to replace it.

Thermostat Some dishwashers have a thermostat that monitors the drying temperature. If the thermostat is defective, the heating element may not cycle on or off properly. If that's the problem, you need to replace the thermostat.

SOURCE: I have frigidaire dishwasher,starts cycle,can hear

Depending on your dishwasher, it fills either by a timer or by a water probe or float. I will assume its a timer as a probe or float wouldnt exhibit this behaviour. I would say you have a restriction in your water supply line. Check your valves, any screen filter in the water line for sand/scale/silicate/etc, pressure regulator if applicable. Another posibility is a poor magnet in your fill valve.

    SOURCE: Dishwasher not running.

Sounds like the unit is either clogged, or the timer has an issue. Clean the unit, make sure the door latch is working properly and then go from there.

SOURCE: My Frigidaire dishwasher - most buttons don't work and clean and sanitized lights are flashing after cycle completes.

Hello Rich - From what you have described if only some cycles are working, then there seems to be a communication problem coming from the main control panel, I would suggest contacting a professional technician to diagnose the unit.

Whirlpool Dishwasher ADG 8210 runs for about 5 mins in any program then stops with F06 error code. Inlet water supply, hose, solenoid & filter all okay, also spray nozzles & heating circuit all clear.

If your dishwasher has set off an alarming F06 error code on the digital display, it is likely to be a problem with the water filling the machine.
Check for an intermittant inlet solenoid.

Dishwasher stops working a few minutes after being started

Make sure the water is turned on to the unit first--next, is there water entering the tub? Check the float switch--the round, plastic, "flying saucer" shaped object at the bottom of the tub. Gently lift up on it and carefully listen for a very soft "click" sound. That is the tiny switch underneath working. If something gets trapped under the float switch, the washer won't fill with water. Next, if water is indeed in the tub, did you hear the motor pump running? If it runs and then stops, there might be a problem with the control board--check to see if the drain pump works properly--cancel the cycle and listen for the drain pump turning on and draining out all the water. On almost all dishwashers, at the start of a cycle, the drain pump will turn on briefly to pump out any standing water left in the motor base(you can't see the water but it's there) so it doesn't get sprayed onto your dishes. Then, fresh, hot water enters the tub, when the water level reaches the proper level, the float switch rises, tells the computer enough water is present, then starts the main pump. If the water is not being drained out, try to listen for the drain motor humming. If it is running but not draining, it is probably jammed with food or other debris and must be cleared. If the water is turned on but no water is entering the tub, check the inlet water valve underneath the washer--the water line is connected directly to it. It is electrical and operates on 120v. You will need to carefully disconnect the connector from the valve, activate a cycle, and using a voltage meter, check to see if 120 volts is present. If it is there and no water is entering, most likely the valve is bad. If there is no voltage at the valve, either a wire is broken or the main board is defective.

Cycle starts, but does not fill with water

When I start a new cycle, I first hear the pump run to empty out all remaining water, and after that I hear the motor run for the regular washing cycle, but there is no water in the dishwasher. After a few minutes, the cycle stops, and the washer claims the dishes are 'clean'. When I try starting a new cycle over and over again, about one in 20 times, the cycle will run normally with water. But then the next time, the problem starts all over again. Once a cycle starts correctly, everything works fine, including the rinsing.

What is causing the drain pump to continue running

C1 - Partially Blocked Drain - This error will occur when dishwasher was unable to pump out water in less than 95 seconds. Check drain line for debris and blockage. If clear, check for a restricted drain valve in the pump. Check the pressure sensor for correct operation as it sounds like it may be defective and thinks that the machine is still full of water after it has emptied.

Dishwasher starts running for 2 minutes then stops

The first 2 minutes of the cycle is a pump out cycle followed by a brief pause then a water fill cycle.Make sure the water is getting to the water valve underneath. Check the water valve for power with a volt meter just after the pump out cycle. No power= bad timer or bad wire. Power = a bad water valve or no water present.
