This model is nortorious for Y-sustain board failure, replace the Y-sustain board and you should be good to go. The Y-sustain board is the one while standing with back off the set is the board on the left side of the television.

that tv is very common for power supply failures. there will be several bulging vented capacitors on the power board. the capacitors are used for filtering in the power supply so they would smooth out the ouput of the certain switched supply circuit they are part of. easiest way would be to replace the power board otherwise with some minor soldering skills replacing the capacitors is cheapest route. the capacitors are near the top right corner of the power board which looking from the back of the tv is the board on the left. usually there are about 5 capacitors total that need to be replaced.

Sounds like the power supply board has failed, VERY common problem. You can call 1-800-samsung for the nearest service center.

It would be a lot cheaper if you just replace the two caps that have gone bad. Just get a cheap solder pencil from the store and about an inch of solder and you are in business.
The Power Supply Board is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.

I just fixed this very same problem. The capacitors are the problem. However, I think that if you have some minimal skills with soldering, you can fix this yourself. You just need to take out the system board, then the power supply parts are on the top right. The bad capacitor(s) will be bulging at the top and possibly have some brown stuff coming out. The ones that go bad are 1000microfarad, 10V, however you can replace them with higher voltage. I got 35V caps from radio shack for 1.59 each. You just need to solder out the bad ones and then put the new ones in and solder. Remember that the negative end goes on the side with the bold black part of the circle on the system board. Then just cut off the extra ends of the capacitors. If you are capable of doing this yourself, you will spend at most 6 dollars instead of however much a technician costs.
