Ask yourself a couple of questions.......your not to specific on what deck you have
1 when you plug the ipod into headphones does the left and right work?if not the ipod output is damaged and sending out mono.if they both work procede to next step..
2 if the cable is headphone jack to head phone jack replace it some wires inside are broken...you can get them at best buy by dynex for $7.00....
It's one of 3 things. Either you have a bad aux cable, the cable isn't pushed in all the way into the ipod/stereo, or you have a bad connection on the ipod itself.
To test theory #3, plug in some headphones and wiggle the cord around... good?
To test theory #2, give a good push on the ipod. sometimes it appears to be seated all the way but isn't.
To test theory #1, well.... you just need to buy a new cord and give it a go.
It would be very hard to believe that it's your vehicle causing the problem. Ipods get a lot of use/abuse out of them with tension on the headphones. This can cause internal loose headphone connections on the ipod itself. Hopefully it's just not seated properly or your cord gave out on you. Ipods aren't cheap.
Good Luck
