SOURCE: I've had the refregerator for 10 months.. All of a sudden water is appearing on the floor next to the refrigerator. Where could it be leaking from?

Pull it forward and seei if the drain pan is either overflowing or empty. If it,s empty, check the drain isn't blocked, causing meltwater to leak from inside. If it's overflowing, check the door seals properly and the defrost settings are ok.

Why does oil leak at the bottom of the Gibson refrigerator door

Hello Susan;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

You do not have any oil in your system with the exception of a few ounces in the bottom of your compressor. This is not your problem.

You have a water leak. The water will run across the bottom coils and the floor. By the time it reaches the front of your unit it looks oily.

Pull you unit out. Make sure you raise the leveling screws in the front first.
Remove the lower back cover. There are a few screws holing it on.

1.) Inspect the drain pan. Is it leaking?

2.) Inspect the water shut off valve. Is it leaking.

3.) Inspect the plastic tubing to your water filter, ice maker and water dispenser. Plastic tubing will dry rot and crack over time due to the heat.

4.) Have someone press your water dispenser while you observe for leaks in the back.

Why is water leaking on to hardwood floor and warping it.

Excessive water in the catch pan can be caused by a leak in the ice maker. Shut off the water supply and if the problem goes away it is caused by a small leak. If it continues it can be caused by high humidity in your home.

JENN AIRE LEAKING WATER ON FLOOR. NOT SUPPLY LINE PROBLEM. HELP

Open freezer, remove lower crisper & look for solid ice on freezer floor & area at rear of freezer. If present, defrost drain is restricted. Depending on make & model remove ice, remove rear wall and clear defrost drain trough and drain path. Verify by removing kick panel, pour a cup of near boiling water through drain and watch as it drains into pan. Once clear, pour one ounce of bleach into drain tube. Also check as water is draining into pan that the pan is not leaking due to pan cracks. This solution is based on the fact that you are stating no hoses are bad.

Is a Kenmore Elite Upright Frost-Free Freezer supposed to have water leaking from underneath it? Would this be the water accumulating from the "defrost cycle" on it?

Is the drain pan underneath overflowing? If so the water filter may be clogged and the water leaking past it to the pan. The normal amount of water from the defrost cycle shouldn't fill it up. The condenser fan usually evaporates the water by blowing the warm air on the pan.
There could be a leak because or the defrost drain being stopped up but this usually comes out the bottom of the freezer door.
Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Orange light in the shape of a leaking bucket. Side by side fridge/freezer with ice maker and water dispenser

I think you are referring to the water filter alarm. When it first starts coming in, you only notice it when you blink. As time passes, the color becomes more pronounced....If this is right, we'll move on from here, if not, please re-post, and please don't mention the village idiot (me).
The alarm can come on if a high differential pressure is sensed across the filter, or it can come on at pre-programmed times. If the fridge is relatively new, and the quality of the water is good, you can reset the alarm. On my model, I hold down the "ice type" and "child lock" buttons for about 5 seconds. The actual filter is located in the fridge, on the upper right hand side. These filters are somewhat expensive. I say that to say this....You can extend the life of your filter by installing an in-line filter between the wall water valve and the back of the fridge. This will act as a pre-filter for the Samsung filter. They cost usually about a quarter of the cost of the Samsung filters, and are easily replaced. Should you decide to replace your filter, Ebay is a very good source at a less than retail price.
Hope this was what you needed...regards --W/D-- Please feel free to rate this solution!

GE top freezer refrigerator automatic ice cube maker leaks water into the freezer, and eventually on the floor. Water seems to be coming from the area that fill up to make more ice cubes.

If it is leaking water in the freezer it will more than likely freeze amongst the ice cubes causing a block of ice.

It is more than likely leaking at the rear of the unit, near the valve or fill tube for the ice, this will run up the rear wall of the unit.
