If the printer does not work properly: • Check battery status or terminal power connection. The printer will not print if there is an insufficient charge remaining in the battery to complete the print operation. (For Vx610 terminals only.) • Check if the printer is out of paper and that the roll is properly installed. Open the paper roll cover and install a new roll of printer paper or ensure that the roll is feeding from the bottom. • Verify that the printer roller and paper roll dust cover are properly installed. • If the problem persists, contact 775-358-2922 hope this help : - )
It's because of power issue
You have to disconnect all the cables and clean make sure no dirt
Connect the printer first and power up the register
If still the problem persists
you need to replace some files by doing a dialin
Make sure you are using thermal paper and it is feeding from the bottom of the roll. If not press down on the lid when the paper is printing sometmes the tension springs were defective.
I had a similar problem ... printer printing receipt just like when printer test conducted. I turned printer off, pressed/held paper feed button, turned on, let test run, then shut off. This didn't work ... so I disconnected terminal cable from printer (printer turned off) and reconnected. Printer now works fine.
Does it feed a length of paper? if so, you may have either the wrong paper, or the paper loaded incorrectly. It needs to be thermal paper, and it will only print on one side, so if you are sure its thermal paper then try turning the paper over and loading it that way.
If it doesnt feed any paper and just makes noise then the problem is probably a broken gear inside the printer. For this you would need to find a place that can repair these terminals.
First off, verify that the printer is powered on. This may be a basic thing, but many, many people don't realize that the printer either was turned off accidentally, or the power plug came loose.
Check that the cable connecting the terminal to the printer is securely connected at both ends. If this doesn't resolve the issue, pull the and check the ends of the plug on the cord at each end to make sure that the pins inside are not bent.
If you are running a Verifone printer, you can run a print test to make sure the printer is working by turning the printer's power off, and then while pressing and holding the paper feed button (green button on top) turning the power back on. The printer will start printing test characters (you can release the button when it starts printing). To stop the test, just power the printer off again and then back on.
If the above suggestions don't fix the problem and it was working fine at an earlier date - you most likely have a bad printer. You can also contact your processor's Help Desk and have them check to make sure the settings on the terminal and/or printer didn't changed somehow.
The letters and number it is printing is the self test print mode. Normally to run the self test you would turn the printer off, then hold down the feed button, then while holding the feed button, turn the power back on. It sounds like your feed button may be stuck.
