I have a VeriFone Omni Vx510 - I keep getting a paper out message when trying to process a transaction. There is paper in the machine.

    Please ensure that the paper is NOT being feed through any Please ensure that the paper is NOT being feed through any rollers. Think of a roll of toilet paper. The roll is in the roller and the paper is falling down away from you (towards the wall) when you hold it in-between your finger tips. As the paper if daggling down, away from you, grab the paper with your other hand and pull it up towards you. Holding on to the paper that was daggling, seat the roll of paper in the clam-shell and close the cover (again, Do Not feed the paper through anything. The rubber rolling pins on the terminal and the clam-shell cover will feed the paper). Have some of the paper sticking out of the terminal, and scratch the paper with finger nail. You should leave a grey line of the paper. If not, you have placed the paper in the wrong direction, you do not have thermal paper, or the terminal paper has expired and been sitting on the shelf longer then a year (shorter life if not in a temperature controlled room). If the printer does not work properly:
• Check battery status or terminal power connection. The printer will not print if
there is an insufficient charge remaining in the battery to complete the print
operation. (For Vx610 terminals only.)
• Check if the printer is out of paper and that the roll is properly installed. Open
the paper roll cover and install a new roll of printer paper or ensure that the roll
is feeding from the bottom.
• Verify that the printer roller and paper roll dust cover are properly installed.

This could be a number of things.
#1 do you have DSL internet service? If so do you have a DSL filter between the jack and your terminal?
#2 Do you have digital phone service? Vontage or Comcast will cause this problem . Especially upon batching out the terminal.
#3 Check the blind dial setting within the other setup option. This option is buried, so it will require a phone call to Merchant service Provider.

If none of these work, then it is time for a new service. Place a call the Heartland Payment Systems Credit Card Processing and change your card service provider. The only card service provider that has a merchant bill of rights and field service techs (for free).

Just pop the lid with the button on the side of the terminal and drop the roll in with the paper coming out toward you as you face the machine. Close the lid and rip off excess. There is no need to feed paper through anything.

Well the terminal counting mechanism works in conjunction with your credit card processor. So if you forget to batch out (settle your transactions) it will give false errors. Even if you conduct a partial especially in a restaurant environment because of tips rule of thumb is always settle the sales it will save you time and a headache.

Also the pin pad error is that you have to almost always have peripherals detached before any downloads. Before detaching make sure all power is off then unplug the pin pad. Partials are only for veterens like myself that know what can be a partial download and when a full download needs to be done. Always recommend your tech to do a full download. I helped develop some of the Verifone terminals applications so taking care of these issues is a breeze.

the batch seq can be changed internally in the machine
Hit more until you see other setup. Password 1 Alpha Alpha 66831 then choose merchant by hitting the more key again. Once you choose merchants hit select on 1/1 then edit the batch number to the next one hit enter then ext save changes. RED X key to escape to main screen. This step needs to be done with no transactions.

This problem could have multiple causes. It sounds like you are receiving a settlement error, which are specific to each merchant services provider. You will have to call the merchant services provider so that they can look up the error message on their end and tell you what is causing the error. For example, the error message that you would receive if you use First Data would be different than the message you would get if you used Bank of America. Your terminal will not let you run any more cards until you resolve the settlement error. This is to prevent you from continuing to run cards in a corrupted batch, or a duplicate batch.

Can verifone vx510 (Omni 3730 work on a digital line?

It's really hit or miss. Some days they will work, some days they will not. You will only really run into a problem when your doing downloads or batching the terminal out. You will sometimes have problems running cards, but make sure you hit the reports key if you get a disconnect to make sure the transaction didn't go through already before running the card again.

3750 fails to complete transaction

it needs to reprogram the machine

erase all of Memory and cache
ask your processing company, build NEW terminal file
and install fresh one.
